We've known that Deadpool 3 is on the way for a while now, but when it was finally made official, the news came in typical Ryan Reynolds fashion. The actor, who is a marketing pro, dropped a video that ended with Hugh Jackman walking by, confirming he will return as Wolverine in the threequel.
That's huge, and the excitement for the movie has increased exponentially in the weeks since.
While the two actors shared the screen in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, that wasn't the Wolverine/Deadpool team-up comic book fans have dreamed of. Marvel Studios, however, looks set to make it a reality, and Jackman has now dropped some hints about what we can expect.
"It’s gonna be a blast! We like to call it Wolverine 10. That’s what I like to call it," he joked in an interview with People. "I think being on set with [Ryan] every day and those two on film in every city together everyday...I think it’s fair to say they’ll be punching the shit out of each other the whole time."
"All jokes aside, I’ll probably have more fun on this movie than any other I’ve ever done," Jackman concluded, making it clear he's looking forward to donning those claws again.
By the time the credits roll on Deadpool 3, we're sure that the Merc with the Mouth will call the Marvel Cinematic Universe home. As for Wolverine, chances are he'll be returned to the X-Men Universe to ensure the events of Logan can still happen...we'd be shocked if he doesn't reappear in Avengers: Secret Wars, though.
Free Guy and Stranger Things filmmaker Shawn Levy is directing the movie, while Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Wendy Molyneux, and Lizzie Molyneux have all contributed to the screenplay.
Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on November 8, 2024.
