We were already excited about Deadpool 3, but the announcement that Hugh Jackman has joined the cast as Wolverine damn near broke the internet.
Since then, there have been reports about Owen Wilson showing up as TVA agent Mobius, with the cast of 2005's Fantastic Four movie also supposedly set to appear. That points to Deadpool and Wolverine embarking on some sort of Multiversal road trip we have to believe will end with the Merc with the Mouth left stranded in the MCU.
With production set to begin next year, Ryan Reynolds is clearly in the midst of preparing for the threequel, which is evident from a recent photo shared by the actor of him watching 2017's Logan.
The critically acclaimed James Mangold-helmed movie ended Wolverine's story, killing the character off Old Man Logan-style after the death of his fellow X-Men at the hands of a failing Professor X. Prior to his demise at the hands of his clone, the hero managed to get X-23 and her fellow young mutants to safety, hopefully ensuring the X-Men could one day be reborn.
However, as much excitement as there has been for Jackman to return as Wolverine, there are those who have expressed concerns that Deadpool 3 might undermine the events of Logan.
Luckily, Reynolds has confirmed on numerous occasions that, "Logan takes place in 2029, totally separate thing. Logan died in Logan, not touching that." It's clear that, whatever happens, this team-up will take place prior to that movie and likely leave Wolverine back in his own reality (sadly meaning he won't escape his heartbreaking final fate).
There are a lot of big rumours swirling about Deadpool 3, but we don't expect to learn much about this one until cameras start rolling next year.
Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on November 8, 2024.
