DEADPOOL Star Ryan Reynolds Sees "Infinite Possibility" For The Merc With A Mouth In The MCU

We still don't know what the future holds for Deadpool, but Ryan Reynolds believes the Merc With a Mouth will return in some capacity... whether that's as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or not...

Fans are anxious for some sort of update on the status of Deadpool, but in the absence of an official announcement, all we can do is attempt to get as many details out of Ryan Reynolds as possible!

The Free Guy actor has always seemed confident that The Merc With a Mouth will return in some capacity, but he's been hesitant to be too specific (it could be that he's genuinely not certain, but we doubt it!), and he continued to keep his cards close to his chest during an appearance on on The Tonight Show.

Reynolds does seem excited about the prospect of Wade Wilson playing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sandbox, but he says he'd be just as happy if the character continued to "do his own thing."

"I see infinite possibility in either version, you know? If Deadpool were to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I think it would be explosive, and amazing, and what a sandbox to play in. If Deadpool continued to get to just do his own thing, and be his own thing, also just like infinite possibility."

So, not a whole lot more to go on there - although Reynolds did suggest that he has been speaking to writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick about the character's future, and they hope to get to work on another project soon.

Check out the video interview for yourselves below, and let us know if you think Deadpool will eventually be integrated into The MCU in the comments.

I just wonder if it going to be released under the 20th Century Pictures banner or the Marvel, when it is releaser. If it is the latter, he has all the time to think about what infinite possibilities he is gonna explore as Marvel probably already has movies planned for the next 5 years or so

Keep him away from The MCU, please

I think the better option Is to have the FoX-Men movies an adjacment to the MCU trough the Multiverse, making X-Force More like Exiles, That way they could use recently popular they own but can't mix with the Avengers, like Tenage Negasonic, Cable, X-23, the cast of New Mutants , Psylocke, Blink, they could even add some of the Netflix characters like Daredevil and Punisher adding value to the recently adquired catalogue of Xmen media without afeccting the Disney brand or the MCU narrative a win win situation.

keep saying it. not that it matters what i say. but deadpool's universe has no reason not to already exist in the MCU, including the X-Men. none of the Fox-Men have actually appeared in anything more than a cameo, and Colossus and Juggernaut are obviously very different than their Fox-Men counterparts. There's nothing really that has happened in the MCU so far that would've needed the X-Men.

No one asks "why didn't Dr. Strange recruit all the wizards to fight in Wakanda or on Titan in Infinity War like he did in Endgame"? Same reason. They had their own crap to deal with.

Quick flashbacks of them dealing with the battle in new york the same way the ancient one was. dont even need a flashback, just show a news clip of wolverine and cyclops fighting the battle of new york with the tagline "Who are these new heroes?" like what happened in the first avengers movie.

start an x-men movie with a snap and them dealing with that... then coming back 5 years later.

wanna know how i'd do it personally? as an end credit, do a "some years ago" and have nick fury talking to someone out of camera. he's trying to recruit them after the events of battle of new york. the man politely declines, saying that he is running a school now and that's his priority first but that if the time comes, he'll be there. pan out only revealing the back of a bald headed man in a wheel chair.

open the first x-men movie with them saving people in NYC from the chaos of "the snap" as some of them suddenly vanish. maybe have some of the x-men on the way to wakanda in the blackbird and prof x, using cerebro, is like... my students, we're too late, before he himself vanishes. fast forward 5 years to an abandoned x-mansion. the remaining mutants of the world are living in secret on genosha when they all hear something in their heads. "hear me, mutants. it is time to come out of the shadows".

roll opening credits.

@adamcawa - meh maybe that doesn't work with all the secretive stuff because deadpool 2 was very much in the public's eye. but you get the idea.

none of this will happen of course. but it's possible.

@adamcawa - Another alternative: Deadpool 1 and 2 haven not happened on the MCU yet. When they introduce the X-Men they will be conerporary to Deadpool.

@YonnyLayna - if that's the case, probably makes more sense to have deadpool 1-2 happen during the 5 years after the snap? maybe have him cross paths with Ronin? helps explain somewhat why he's been able to get away with all that crap and even also that a giant helicarrier crashed in new york.

and really, since deadpool himself made the events of deadpool 2 noncanon, you just have to explain away deadpool 1.

@adamcawa - i think they should write Deadpool, FF and Xmen separate from the MCU and within the Fox Banner (while keeping their content canon but not mentioned in the MCU) but then during major crossover events, portal events, time manipulation multiverse events... they can cross over... some temporarily, some permanently.

@JonC - I suspect the FF are going to be in the MCU but I wouldn't be surprised if they have the X-Men in their own Universe.
