Like Spider-Man: No Way Home before it, Deadpool & Wolverine is a movie that's generated heaps of excitement among fans...and a whole lot of rumours.
Set photos have confirmed that the threequel will feature the Merc with the Mouth's Variants, but will we see Lady Deadpool? Taylor Swift and Blake Lively have both been linked to the role, though only time will tell whether either or both women suit up as the fan-favourite Wanda Wilson.
As Deadpool & Wolverine's release date draws closer, merchandise for the movie is slowly starting to find its way into stores. Now, a leaked Funko Pop listing has reportedly confirmed plans for Lady Deadpool to be part of the second wave of figures.
Nothing is confirmed at this stage, though it does seem likely that this character will appear in some way, shape, or form (and we wouldn't put it past Marvel Studios using VFX to make Ryan Reynolds look and sound like a woman).
Still, it would be a missed trick not to make use of Swift or Lively for this role, particularly as they remain such fan-favourite choices to bring Lady Deadpool to life on screen (the former, however, may be a lock for Dazzler).
Either way, the Multiversal nature of Deadpool & Wolverine should mean we spend time with a lot of Variants, including Henry Cavill as...well, we won't spoil it here, but you can find his possible role at this link!
In the comics, Lady Deadpool hails from Earth-3010 and shares many similarities with the original Deadpool, including her sarcastic wit, regenerative healing factor, and exceptional combat skills. However, she still possesses her own unique personality and backstory.
Wanda becomes a mercenary after surviving experiments similar to Deadpool's, which granted her superhuman abilities but left her disfigured. She then adopts the moniker Lady Deadpool and embarks on various adventures across the Multiverse, often teaming up with other alternate versions of Deadpool and joining forces with different superhero groups.
Shawn Levy directs Deadpool & Wolverine, which stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen. The movie is written by Ryan Reynolds & Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Zeb Wells & Shawn Levy.
The trades have confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Wesley Snipes, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Dafne Keen, Channing Tatum, Blake Lively and, as we mentioned above, even singer Taylor Swift among those rumoured to make an appearance.
Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 26.
