Deadpool & Wolverine has all the makings of a $1 billion hit. Those have become a rarity since the pandemic and, in the eyes of many, this will be the movie that puts the Marvel Cinematic Universe back on the right track.

Fans are understandably thrilled to see the Merc with the Mouth and Logan share the screen, though there were initial concerns about bringing Hugh Jackman back into the fold after what proved to be a perfect send-off in 2017.

Logan killed the clawed mutant in a way he can't come back from. Undoing that would be nothing short of sacrilegious, but the latest trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine confirmed this is a Variant of the X-Man who somehow failed his world.

Now, the first meeting between Wade Wilson and Logan is spotlighted in a new still from the upcoming threequel.

This appears to be the scene where Deadpool tracks Wolverine down to a bar; however, we can't help but wonder if he's already tried recruiting other Variants of the hero before settling on this one. We'll have to wait and see.

"I have always said that I can’t wait for Deadpool 3 to come out because all I want to do is give interviews alongside Ryan where we talk about our reverence for the movie Logan," Levy said last year. "Logan is canon. We love Logan. That happened."

"I want the world to know, as the producer and director, all of us share a deep love and respect for Logan, every aspect of how it’s crafted, and all the events that take place."

Check out this new look at Deadpool & Wolverine below and stay tuned for more updates on the movie in the coming days and weeks.

The trades have confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Wesley Snipes, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Dafne Keen, Channing Tatum, Blake Lively and, as we mentioned above, even singer Taylor Swift among those rumoured to make an appearance.

Kevin Feige, Reynolds, Levy and Lauren Shuler Donner produce with Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, Simon Kinberg and Jonathon Komack Martin serving as executive producers.
