DEADPOOL 3: Kevin Feige Confirms The Threequel Has A Place On Marvel Studios' Secret Slate Of Movies

It's still hard to believe that we're getting a Deadpool 3 from Marvel Studios, but Kevin Feige has now confirmed there are release plans in place for the project while sharing an update on the script.

We know Deadpool 3 is happening, but a release date has yet to be revealed for the Marvel Studios movie. The Merc with the Mouth is one of hundreds (possibly thousands) of Marvel characters acquired by Disney during the merger with Fox, but Wade Wilson does appear to be a priority.

It's previously been revealed that the R-Rated threequel will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux are penning the screenplay. Doing the rounds to promote Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige opened up on where things currently stand with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool return.

Asked whether they have a release window in mind for the movie, Feige responded: "We do. The script is in the works and Ryan is working very hard on it with our writers as we speak."

Recently, Reynolds confirmed that he anticipates production beginning next year, so Deadpool 3 could start to take shape fairly soon. It's clear that Marvel Studios has a tentative Phase 5 slate in place, but when that's going to be revealed is hard to say. After all, Phase 4 has only really just begun after what happened in 2020, so it's possible Feige doesn't want to share too much about the future yet.

This is definitely a promising update, though, and it's going to be very interesting to see how the offbeat superhero is incorporated into this shared world (especially when his adventures have been PG-13 until now).

What are you hoping to see from Deadpool 3?

So this will be a soft reboot, like The Incredible Hulk?

Hopefully its better than Deadpool 2 (Was modern Family Guy level)

@dracula - hulk wasnt a soft reboot, that was straight 100% reboot in all sense and purposes as far I recall

@dracula - I never understood why people think Incredible Hulk was a soft reboot. The origin of how he became Hulk is different. All the actors are different. Not a single thing from Ang Lee's Hulk is even mentioned or reference.

The ONLY thing is Incredible Hulk starts in a similar looking town as where Ang Lee's Hulk ended. And even if its the same town, does that really make it a soft reboot even though literally everything else is changed? That's like saying that an MCU X-Men film is a soft reboot of Fox-Men because they are both in Westchester, NY.

Can’t believe Deadpool is actually going to be in the MCU. Did they talk about whether his movie will be rated R or not? I mean It has to be right?
McMurdo
McMurdo - 8/20/2021, 4:28 AM
@Frshcoupe - confirmed R by Feige
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 8/20/2021, 4:30 AM
@Frshcoupe - Yeah, they've already confirmed it will be rated R. They confirmed it a LONG time ago by saying something along the lines of, "If it isn't broken, why fix it?" But for some reason people still questioned it. So more recently Feige confirmed it again.

@CorndogBurglar - While I firmly do believe it will be R, I think people still question it because Feige also said the MCU has no plans for R-rated films. Love Feige, but feel like we can hardly take him at his word (especially since the mouse seems to get final say)
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 8/20/2021, 6:47 AM
@Armageddon26 - Nah, they made too much of a big deal out of it. If it ended up being PG-13 it would piss off a lot of people.

And, he said that they would make R-Rated movies if it made sense. But then also said they have no plans to for any other R-Rated movies outside of Deadpool.

Which seems weird because Blade seems like a perfect movie to be Rated R.

@Frshcoupe - R was confirmed at the time of the Fox purchase by the head of Disney buying the property.

@Armageddon26 - When in the last 22+ movies did Disney get the final say in an MCU film?... other than releasing BW on Disney+ at the same time as theaters?

@CorndogBurglar - this. I think Blade will be Rated R in the end.

Not surprised by this at all. Especially after that little teaser Deadpool did with Korg. The question really is, at least to me, exactly how they will fit him in or maybe I should say exactly how he will fit with the string of films scheduled to be released.

It would be fun to see Deadpool teaming up with the Morlocks. The Sewer Freaks and Wade "Scrotum Face" Wilson. Losers team.

If this movie doesn’t start with Deadpool throwing a dinner party with all of the MCU heroes (Spidey especially) only to reveal that he’s been serving the heroes pieces of himself, then why bother making this movie?

Hoping to see Brolin and Zazie back as Cable and Domino too. Make them the MCU versions, so slightly different (e.g., Brolin with fully white/silver hair, and make him larger w/ camera angles, lifts, costume, etc.). That would be great.

Well for one thing they won't have to reinvent Colossus and others cause that's exactly how Disney would have done them.

Is it really secret since we already knew it was happening? In that case Fantastic Four and Blade might as well be on it too (and maybe Avengers 5 too)
