There's a lot of excitement surrounding Marvel Studios' plans for Deadpool 3, especially with Hugh Jackman set to reprise the role of Wolverine for the first time since 2017's Logan. It's already been confirmed that the events of the threequel won't contradict that movie, but what can we expect from Shawn Levy's take on this team-up?
Following reports that Owen Wilson will appear in Deadpool 3 as TVA agent Mobius, some new plot details have found their way online courtesy of trusted scooper @MyTimeToShineH.
They claim that the movie picks up right after Deadpool 2, with Wade Wilson using Cable's time-travel device to head into the future in an effort to save Wolverine from dying. It doesn't sound like the two have any sort of shared history upon meeting, but playing around with time will put the duo on the radar of the Time Variance Authority.
We're assuming Mobius will be just another Variant rather than the version we first met in Loki, but Marvel Studios is playing so fast and loose with its Multiverse rules, it's hard to say for sure. Regardless, this sounds like an awesome premise and one that should lead to all sorts of reality-hopping hijinks.
The popular theory right now is that Deadpool 3 will ultimately conclude with Wolverine back where he belongs and the Merc with the Mouth stranded in the MCU.
If that isn't the plan, it's a major missed opportunity on Marvel Studios' part, though we are intrigued to see what sort of spin Kevin Feige puts on Fox's now-defunct X-Men Universe.
What do you guys think?
