Deadpool 3 will introduce Ryan Reynolds' Merc With a Mouth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been discussing their script during a recent round of interviews.
Though the scribes have been careful not to spill any specific story details, they have given fans a slightly better idea of what to expect from Wade Wilson's MCU debut. Reese recently described the threequel as a "fish-out-of-water story" that will "drop a lunatic into a very sane world," and he's now suggested that nothing is off limits for ol' Deadpool to "poke fun at."
"How many movies have they given us? 25? 26? 28? Something like that," Reese said of the MCU while chatting to the Post Credits Podcast. "We have a treasure trove of things to poke fun at now, and Deadpool's an equal [opportunist], so everyone's fair game."
The writer also admitted that they have thought about certain character interactions, and which specific heroes and/or villains Wade would be likely to either get along with or despise being around!
"Look, I do think we do obviously sit in our head and imagine Deadpool having a conversation with character ‘X,’ character ‘Y,’ character ‘C,’ because right there, you just go, ‘Is that funny or isn’t it?’ And the answer is very often, ‘Yes.’"
Right now, all really know about Deadpool 3 is that it's going to be directed by Shawn Levy and make full use of an R-rating. In a seperate interview from earlier this month, Reese assured fans that the studio is fully on board with the movie embracing the more adult classification.
“Now when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross a line, maybe we’ll hear at some point, ‘Maybe not that joke.’ But I think they’ve been incredibly supportive of what we’re doing, because obviously we were doing it separate from them for a long time, and I think they’ve seen the success and they’ve had their own even greater success. So hopefully it’ll be a marriage made in heaven. But we’ve definitely got their support, and that’s a great thing to feel.”
The still untitled Deadpool threequel doesn't have a release date yet.
