Ryan Reynolds Is Reteaming With The Writers Of DEADPOOL 2 To Adapt CLUE

Ryan Reynolds worked with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick on both Deadpool and The Untitled Deadpool Sequel and now they're set to reteam for a big screen adaptation of the murder mystery board game Clue.

Whodunnit? The Merc with the Mouth, apparently! It's been confirmed today that Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is set to reteam with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to bring another board game to the big screen. Clue was actually adapted in 1985 but this won't be a remake of that. Instead, it's going to deliver a fresh take on the iconic property which will presumably feature a great deal of humour.

After all, it's hard to imagine it being too serious with a team made up of Reynolds, Reese, and Wernick, and that's no bad thing. After all, board game adaptations have always been very hit and miss and it's much smarter taking a tongue in cheek approach to something like this than not. The movie comes as part of a deal Reynolds has made with Fox to keep his production company Maximum Effort at the studio in a three-year first-look deal (which will presumably transfer to Disney one day).

Reynolds has an exciting couple of years ahead with both Deadpool 2 and Detective Pikachu on the horizon. Are you excited for this fresh take on Clue? Let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

Reynolds has killed it with Deadpool, it I feel like he’s only really good when he’s playing characters that are very much close to who he actually is in real life... a smart ass. That’s why van wylder still makes me crack up

Is CLUE the same thing as CLUEDO..?

With that team behind it, I’m in. I honestly love the fact that we’ve seen so little of Deadpool 2, and it comes out in 4 months. It makes me think there will actually be a lot of surprises. I also hope there’s a last-minute nod to the merger in the film.

Loved the original 1985 film. Very good production values, camera work and actually a decent mystery behind all the comedy. I hope they don't go all out for zaniness. And I can't see Reynolds playing any character from the game. Closest is Mr Green I guess?

@SecretWarrior - If it's a remake of the film and not just an adaptation of the game then I could see him playing Mister Boddy. :p

“Clue” is one of my favorites, so I’ll be keeping an eye on this. Sounds intriguing, though.

I don't mind this at all. Could be plenty of fun. The original film is a damn riot though!

I feel a bit conflicted about this. The original Clue is such a classic.

Oh my God, I totally forgot about this game. Used to play it so much with my cousins when I was young. Dang it, now I feel nostalgic.

@TheSoulEater - I'm a little confused by Josh Gad as a female, Asian doctor, but other than that, great list.

I love the original. It is so stuffed with lines, facial expressions, and a few etc.'s that I find humorous that I have to watch it a few times to pick up on all of it.

I wanted this to be remade by Tim Burton and staring Johnny Depp as everyone, both male and female.

She had some of the best one-liners in the original...

They might base it on the recent IDW comic. I heard it was very self-aware and had a fourth wall breaking butler named Upton. I could see the Deadpool team doing that.
