Beauty and the Beast is tracking for a monstrous debut next month, with some early reports suggesting it could top $200 million domestic in its opening weekend, which would be another major win for Walt Disney Pictures. It will face heavy competition from Logan (March 3), Kong: Skull Island (March 10), and Power Rangers (March 24) upon release, but considering the vastly different audiences, not many are expecting the three male-centric action/adventure films to pose any sort of serious threat to the live-action Disney adaptation in the long-run.
The highly anticipated Bill Condon-directed film stars Emma Watson (Harry Potter) and Dan Stevens (Legion) in the two titular roles, leading an impressive ensemble, that will feature in live-action and animated roles.

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
