We've seen countless big and small screen adaptations of Anna Sewell's Black Beauty over the years, and yet another take on the classic story is coming to Disney+ later this month in the form of an original movie from writer/director Ashley Avis (Deserted, Adolescence).
This version is shaping up to be a little different, however, because the titular horse will talk!
Kate Winslet (Titanic, Avatar 2) will provide the voice of the striking, seemingly untameable filly (a stallion in the novel) who forms an unbreakable bond with a young girl named Jo Green (Mackenzie Foy) who recently lost her family.
We don't hear Beauty speak in the trailer, but we assume that Winslet will simply narrate the story from the horse's POV - which would be faithful to the book - and won't actually hold a conversation with anyone!
This looks supremely cheesy, but then we're not exactly the target demographic. Black Beauty is a timeless tale and this adaptation is sure to connect with the younger members of the family.
Check out the teaser and poster below, and let us know what you think.
Black Beauty also stars Iain Glen, Claire Forlani, and Calam Lynch, and is set to premiere on Disney+ this November 27.
