Disney's Live-Action MULAN Adds THE MINDY PROJECT's Utkarsh Ambudkar & MARCO POLO's Ron Yuan
Walt Disney Studios' upcoming live-action Mulan adaptation, which has Niki Caro set to direct, has just added two key pieces in The Mindy Project actor Utkarsh Ambudkar and Marco Polo actor Ron Yuan.
Deadline is reporting that Utkarsh Ambudkar (Pitch Perfect; Brockmire) and Ron Yuan (Marco Polo) have both joined the cast of Walt Disney Studios' upcoming Mulan in key roles. Ambudkar will play a con artist named Skatch while Yuan will play Qiang, the fiercely loyal Sergeant who is second in command of the Imperial Regiment.
The pair joins a cast that is headlined by Liu Yifei as the titular heroine and that also recently added Jet Li (League of Gods) as the emperor of China, Donnie Yen (xXx: Return of Xander Cage) as Mulan's mentor Commander Tung, Xana Tang (Filthy Rich) as Mulan's sister, and Gong Li (The Monkey King 2) as the film's villain
Niko Caro (The Zookeeper's Wife) is directing with a script from Jurassic World scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Production is expected to begin in China and New Zealand near the end of the summer. Mulan is expected to hit theaters March 27, 2020.
