While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.

"what recent misfires? they got back to form with Brave, Planes, Frozen"
Other than Brave, Pixar has had misfires with both Planes movies. They were just horrible. Frozen wasn't Pixar and it was even worse than Planes.

@osideous Frozen and Planes weren't Pixar, actually, and (if it WAS Pixar) Planes was NOT well-recieved by critics. Brave wasn't one of Pixar's best, and surrounding it were the abysmal Cars 2 and the only-OK Monsters University. Granted, those were preceded by WALL-E, Up, and Toy Story 3, but Pixar's record since 2011 has been spotty at best.

Monsters University was good but not as good as the 1st movie but I'm pretty sure it did very well. I think Brave did really well too (even though I thought it could have been better and it wasn't something I expected it to be). Then there was Cars 2 which I personally didn't like so I guess I will agree on that.

I guess if you compare the last 3 movies to Toy Story 3 (which was great and obviously a hit) you could conceivably call Brave and MU misfired. But I wouldn't consider them a misfire.

Pixar made good sequels for Toy Story but other movies not so much

Are we really judging this entire movie that showed literally nothing besides a rock missing earth, and dinos looking around or roaring. god

@FrozenMarvelite Frozen was just one big music video with poorly written characters and a story that didn't make any sense.

Brave and Monsters U were good at best. What I think he means by "misfires" is that recent Pixar movies were not on the same level as Wall E, Incredibles, Finding Nemo, or Up (which are all great movies in general). But this does look like it'll be on that caliber.

And for the record, Frozen was a very good movie imo.

@FrozenMarvelite "Pay attention next time you watch the movie. It "made sense" to almost everyone else. Also, almost every Disney film has singing btw."

It made sense? Really? Explain the trolls. Explain Elsa's magical powers. Explain how she can create animate objects. Explain how after years of trying to never use her powers and never even using them she had the ability to build an architecturally sound ice castle. Explain how the movie says love at first sight isn't always a good thing and all the while Anna and Kristoff spent roughly the same amount of time together as Anna and Hans.
True, most Disney movies are a musical but no one remembers any other song other than "Let It Go" and the song was used in nearly every trailer and tv spot.

This movie went through development hell. Hopefully it will be good.

AHAHA!

No. Inside Out will be the return to form for Pixar.

The Good Dinosaur will be a instant return out of form for Pixar.

Hopefully it's good but 'm not placing any bets on it. It has had one hell of a development with two directors fired off of it and little in the way of coherent direction. If this movie is anything less than a mess, it will be a miracle.

@FrozenDIAMONDZ

I can go on Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Up, Wall-E, Incredibles, Lion King, Aladdin, Prince of Egypt, Secret of Nimh, etc...

I don't hate Frozen I thought it was a good movie not great but good and there are definitely better animated films out there. Frozen may be your favorite but it is not the best.

Animated movies better than Frozen?

*cough*

*Ahem*

*opens scroll*

Big Hero 6, The Lego Movie, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, The Wind Rises, Winnie the Pooh, Toy Story 1,2 and 3, Princess and the Frog, Up, Wall-E, Ponyo, Ratatoullie, The Incredibles, Howl's Moving Castle, Finding Nemo, Treasure Planet, Spirited Away, Lilo & Stitch, Monsters Inc., Atlantis: The Lost Empire, The Emperor's New Groove.

Shall we take a trip down the 90's? OKAY!
Tarzan, A Bugs Life, Mulan, Princess Mononoke, Hercules, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Lion King, Aladdin, and Beauty and The Beast.

Be happy I only looked at Disney and Disney subsidiary films.

LOL! JamesMann pretty much threw down the gauntlet there. Well done.

If we're just talking recent movies, Big Hero 6 is definitely better than Frozen, too. Good call.

I actually don't hate Frozen either, but I'm mixed on it. Plot-wise, it's great. Awesome message for kids and especially young girls, it's hilarious, it subverts so many tropes and cliches, it's cleverly written, etc etc. But it had almost no reason to be a musical. I mean, what did that opening number have to do with ANYTHING in the rest of the movie? Compare that to something like The Lion King, where everything feels natural and flows smoothly.

With Frozen, it's like they had to stop the movie in its tracks every time they thought they had to shoehorn a catchy song to keep the kids entertained. It's weird, man.
