Burton is perfect for this sort of thing, but I need to see more.

TB has a crazy imagination.
however the trailer seem to focus a lot on the Mad Hatter than the book does, they seem to be missing the rabbit that combos the Hatter.

i think it looks good, I love the "reality escape" movies. Looking forward to "Where the Wild Things Are" to.

harrisonefreeman - 7/23/2009, 6:38 PM
I think the trailer focuses too much on the Mad Hatter because Tim Burton is incapable of making a movie without Johnny Depp. Or Helena Bonham Carter. Don't get me wrong, they are both talented actors, but I'd like to see a fresh idea fall out of Tim Burton's ass for once. What happened??? Beetlejuice, Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands all classics, and then it's as if he became a parody of himself. Like a big Mark Ryden painting come to life over and over and over again. BOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRIINNNNGGGGGGGG.

Actually the trailer is centered around the mad hatter because he won the contest, for those who didnt know, Tim was holding one on facebook for people to vote on which version of the trailer they released, from either the perspective of the red queen, white queen, the madd hatter and i dont if alice too.Anyway mad hatter won so thats why. Personally i think its brilliant, Tim´s style is unique and perfectly fitting, and at this point you dont need to even see the trailer to know what youre getting from Tim Burton, so if you didnt like any of his other movies dont bother coming here to complain you dont like how it looks. its his style, love it or hate but dont bitch about it.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 7/23/2009, 7:29 PM
Yeah i agree. His style is his style. Personally the only Burton movie that i didn't enjoy on some level was Planet Of The Apes...i even though Wonka was entertaining enough!

This looks decent so far but its just a teaser so who knows...

I'M SORRY, but not only am I NOT going to waste hard earned money on another Tim Burton Cookie-cutter, but I am putting my foot down on Hollywood's lack of creativity. OOHHHH...we have the technology, we can make an old movie faster, louder, brighter.....besides, we haven't been forced to create ANYTHING original for decades, so why bother now...the public will eat this up...it IS Johnny Depp, after all! Puulleease! Enough. Millions of dollars? I'll wait to buy Iron Man 2...At least that isn't a remake.

JonAtUnCanny - 7/23/2009, 8:00 PM
So that was the.... Johnny Depp version, I reckon!? And Come on Depp, I'm one of your biggest fans - i'd love to hear an accent that wasnt Ol' Captain Sparrows...
JiMb0
JiMb0 - 7/23/2009, 8:02 PM
wow, its pretty sad how incapable he is of making anything different. contrary to burton's belief johnny depp and helena bonham carter arent perfect for any role imaginable.

I'm really glad he didnt get superman becaue I just cant picture depp as supes and carter as lane.
WEAPON911
WEAPON911 - 7/23/2009, 8:07 PM
Don't tell me none of you remember the recently failed Willy Wonka? Willy was an appropriate name for him in that movie....his acting was limp and shrivled from his time in Edward Scissorhands...

This is just another "Pay me because of who I am" movie, and the loser doesn't even live in the US.

GO AWAY DEPP, GIVE YOUR HEART, AND WHAT'S LEFT OF YOUR TALENT BACK TO DAVEY JONES, AND GO AWAY....

So because Depp is in em and they have Burton's style they are all the same story? Hes not the only director with a distinct style of affinity for using certain actors..

Scorsese uses De Nero..Now Dicaprio, very distinct style too, you could spot one of his movie a mile off.

WEAPON911
WEAPON911 - 7/23/2009, 8:52 PM
There are some actors, Rorschach, that just give up. They become characatures of themselves and just plow through roles in very familiar formats. It gets old. He's not even trying anymore, just putting on makeup and wearing different costumes. I think that's the beef here. At least DiCaprio has a chance to shake it up...good example is Jim Carrey...he knew he hit a wall in comedy, and BANG, serious actor comes out. At first no one knew what to think, but he hit a stride and has done ok (no, I am not a big Jim Carrey fan, just saying)....As far as Burton goes, Caroline was The Corpse Bride meets Nightmare Before Christmas meets Batman 3d....sad, so so sad.

Yeeeah, except Burton has absolutely nothing to do with Coraline!

As for Depp, well he might do the make upy, clownish act for Burton..and do it well i might add. But what about his other movies? The guy is one of the most versatile actors working today. Look at Gilbert Grape and Sweeney Todd and tell me that guys a caricature of himself! I saw Public Enemies recently and was reminded of just how good the guy is. He acted Christian Bale and everyone else off the screen in that movie.
Phoenix9109
Phoenix9109 - 7/23/2009, 9:48 PM
WeaponXII, you need to back the f*** away from Coraline. It had absolutely nothing to do with Burton. In fact, it was actually based on a book by Neil Gaiman, one of the best authors alive today.
I am NOT a big fan of Burton, some of his stuff is ok, but I'm not a fan. I'm actually not that big of a fan of Coraline, either, but I still enjoyed it. And when you insult Coraline you insult Neil Gaiman, and I will NOT stand for that.
*ahem* sorry 'bout that. I tend to get carried away at times, but I meant every word I said.
Phoenix9109
Phoenix9109 - 7/23/2009, 9:49 PM
oh. hah. yeah, the trailer. I nearly forgot.
Eh, it looks alright. I'll admit the posters made me tmore excited than the trailer. It lowered my expectations, actually. Ah, well, I'll give it a go, and I might even be pleasantly surprised.
But personally, it's 9 I want to see. ^_^

For get this movie and Burton.

Depp is an amazing actor! Did you catch that laugh at 1:19? Very convincing maniacal laugh don't you think? Hmmm...Are you guys thinking what I am thinking?

why does it seem like lately when Depp does a Burton movie he always looks like a pedofile?lmfao

ElBeaster - 7/23/2009, 11:41 PM
Don't get offended Pheonix, nobody insulted Neil Gaiman. They just didn't like the movie and Gaiman had nothing to do with it. I have a friend who loved the book and hated the movie, so there must have been a huge change from Gaiman's original writing. Plus it's not always the writing that ruins a movie.

Gotta love Sandman!

But this trailer looks great! Burton's a great director and Depp is a great actor, so it'll most likely be... what's the word?... o ya, great! no that wasn't the word I was looking for... [frick]ing rad as balls! that was it.
Crazyhorrormovienerd
Crazyhorrormovienerd - 7/24/2009, 12:03 AM
dear god if the original Disney animated film wasn't [frick]ed up enough we have to add Tim Burton into the mix. I also like how that entire trailer was almost centered around Mad Hatter just because he's played by Depp when really he's not in the story that much. Johnny Depp has gotten too big, whenever i see him in a movie i don't see the character i see Johnny Depp being that character....if that makes any sense to anyone...

Come on people its just a teaser trailer. When the real trailer comes out then we can say how the movie will come out. We still got about 6 months of more filming and editing. Then 2 months of promos and last minute fixes.

shadowboxer- Be sure to check out FOX's new documentary coming out. I believe it's called... uh... yes, "Where the lamest wastes of our time, money and brain cells which are the sorriest excuses of comic book adapted films are". It's highly anticipated.

Grif- Woah, YOU TOO?!?!?!?!?!

Nice burn there Roar.. on the ... on the Cora/caro-line thing. Good one!

Phoenix9109- Gaiman's head is so far up his [frick]ing ass, he can litteraly lick the insides of his throat!!! He's the most egotistical, self centered, condescending, sac of shit ever to be concidered a human being. Still... doesn't take anything from the fact that he's a bloody brilliant writer. So, no one can insult his talent... but the individual... IS AN ASSHOLE!!! :))

Crazyhorrormovienerd, read leik777's comment.

I for one, LOVE Depp, LOVE Burton, still... don't like the trailer.
