Disney's fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well. The film lands in theaters March 8, 2013!

So hey... I actually really liked this film. The witches were a little annoying, but Franco was awesome.

Saw it last night. Wasn't amazing, but it was good. Had quite a few funny moments. Loved the china girl doll and the monkey.

I've seen it twice and I liked it more the second time around, and these concepts, which are all pretty much in the film, are amazing!

@ nuclear
Really?? Franco was the worst part of the movie for me. He looked high 1/2 the time, he had this goofy smile in some of the scenes and I swore he thought he was filming Your Highness again. Damn I wish RDJ was playing OZ. Or Johnny Depp. Let me see Johnny without Burton and that damn hite pancake makeup for once.

So the acting was terrible, the monkey not funny (at all!), and all the scenery was really fake-looking CGI. That said, the China Girl (why the heck didn't she get a name?!) and the Wicked Witch were the two parts of the movie I actually (if guiltily) enjoyed.

Took my kids to see it over the weekend…decent flick, not great but decent. But I really wish RDJ would’ve stayed on to play Oz because James Franco did nothing special, he made the role easily replaceable...but RDJ wouldve taken the movie up a couple of notches.

Hell Zach Braff wouldve made a better Oz than Franco. And ScarletJack is right, Franco had that stupid smile that makes him look high as a kite throughout the whole movie.

I loved the movie. Just saw it yesterday. My buddies and I went to see it to celebrate my birthday. How ironic... A bunch of young men celebrating being older by seeing a kids movie... Oh, well. Still was a really enjoyable film. Makes me wonder how they'll make a sequel.
