Deadline reveals that Beauty and the Beast's Gaston, Luke Evans, has signed up for another Disney project. The Welsh actor will play The Coachman in Disney's live-action Pinocchio remake.
It was confirmed during Disney's Investor Day in December that the film is heading straight to Disney+, and like Lady and the Tramp, it won't be released in theaters. That doesn't mean it won't attract an A-List cast, however, as Tom Hanks has already signed up to play Geppetto.
Evans is becoming a big part of the Disney family, as he's already agreed to reprise the role of Gaston in an untitled Disney+ series focusing on that villain and Josh Gad's LeFou. We can only hope this is leading to the actor eventually landing a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Robert Zemeckis is directing Pinocchio, and he also penned the screenplay with Chris Weitz.
As you might expect, this live-action film will serve as a retelling of the classic 1940s animated feature. A release date hasn't been revealed, and the cast is only now starting to fill out. It is, however, expected that an unknown will be chosen to take on the role of the twooden boy of the title.
