SNOW WHITE Trailer And Poster Introduce WONDER WOMAN Star Gal Gadot As The Evil Queen

At D23 last night, Walt Disney Studios released the first trailer and poster for its Snow White remake, offering our best look yet at Rachel Zegler as the title character and Gal Gadot's Evil Queen...

Disney pulled out all the stops at D23 yesterday evening and among the many sneak peeks which premiered before fans in Anaheim was a first look at the studio's controversial Snow White remake.

Stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, who portray Snow White and the Evil Queen, respectively, were also on hand to give fans to share new details about the production and a first look at the "Whistle While You Work" scene. We catch a glimpse of that and more (via Toonado.com) in an officially released teaser trailer which might just surprise you.

Why? Well, it's almost a shot-for-shot remake of the cartoon, and that's not something anyone expected given what we've heard about Snow White up until now. Previous reports have pointed to it being a drastic reimagining of the original tale, with the title character given a more proactive role in a story which swaps out the Seven Dwarfs with a group of bandits.

However, extensive reshoots have taken place following the backlash from fans (a result of set photos and various ploy leaks), meaning it's entirely possible Snow White is now a more authentic retelling of its animated predecessor.

Either way, we're sure Disney will win over a lot of sceptical fans with this trailer; should it prove to be misleading, though, the backlash is likely to be worse than ever.

"Choosing thankfulness and gratefulness is choosing peace," Zegler said earlier this year while addressing the trolling she's faced for being cast as Snow White. "As much as you’d like to remind people verbally that being in the spotlight doesn’t absolve you of your humanity — that you’re allowed to have human moments — it doesn’t necessarily do what you want it to do. It fuels them more."

"So it’s choosing to be present and know that they’re probably just having a really hard day. And I’m putting out a movie," she concluded.

Snow White is a live-action musical reimagining of the classic 1937 film. The magical music adventure journeys back to the timeless story with beloved characters Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy.

The movie is directed by Marc Webb and produced by Marc Platt and Jared LeBoff, with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer, and features all-new original songs from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

Disney's Snow White opens exclusively in theaters March 21, 2025.

Hot damn, TCD's and NR's little troopers are at it again with the dislikes...

Oh, well.

@DrReedRichards - have you seen TCD's movie trailer? I wish him luck but holy hell does that movie look cliche, almost like a gay porn parody of a Bourne movie.
DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 8/10/2024, 9:15 AM
@Blergh -

I've caught glimpses of it, but I'm honestly waiting to see how it measures up to Stuckman's, since TCD and his cult have villified him for so long. Granted, after Chris started his own project he's gotten a lot less objective in his own reviews, but the animosity is clearly there.

@DrReedRichards - not joking, what’s a TCD

The Critical Drinker. Similarly, NR is NerdRotic.

@SATW42 -

Respectfully, refusing to giving them any attention is only a solution if they never had any followers to begin with.

Had their voice been minimal and inconsequential, I would have agreed with you. But as it is, they are an issue that may not deserve but sorely needs to be acknowledged and dealt with, preferrably as swiftly as possible.

At least in my eyes.

@DrReedRichards - Do you actually watch TCD? Hes an accomplished author. His rise to fame as an actual creator has allowed him to crowd fund his own movie. His critiques of movies are probably the fairest out of the people you mentioned. In fact, on his own podcast, he defended Fallout when others on the podcast were saying how woke it was.

I agree in part that some of the others are going to hate everything however you still have to give them some credit. G&G, Ryan, Az, TCD, NR have become market movers. That wouldn't be possible if there wasn't anything divisive to complain about.

Last, the James O’Keefe Disney files prooved that these conspiracy theories are real, and Feige going back to the well with the Russo's and RDJ and proof of that.

I think its important to get both points of view. As a traditionalist, I watch positive reviews of Disney stuff to make sure I don't fall into the everything they do is garbage trap.

@CreateNowSlpL8r -

The TLDR is that TCD drank his own Kool-Aid.

First rule of dealing is to never keep a cut of what you move. And what he moved was first and foremost contrarianism. Yes, he wrote his own series of Jack Reacher type action novels, but do you think his audience cares for that?

No. 100%, cutting my good left arm, betting the lives and souls of my unborn children, no. As emphatic of a "no" as possible. What these children care for ('cause we ARE talking about children here, mentallly at least) is being told that they're right and smarter than the rest for being contrarians. That's what drives this audience, and that's what drives this whole "reject modernity, embrace tradition" social movement in general.

Drinker bought his own product. His audience saw him as a leader, and he fell for his own grift. He formed his echo-chamber, and proceeded to challange and be challenged by nothing and noone, only being comforted by yes-people and repeated conclusions, no matter how wrong they might collectively be.

As for Jame O'Keefe, the less seriously you take that barely closeted fascist the better. I saw that former Disney executive's dinner date footage. COnveniently edited and cropped back then, and it's still incomplete now, a full month later.

CreateNowSlpL8r - 8/10/2024, 12:42 PM
@DrReedRichards - That is a lot of conjecture. His audience wouldn't have seen him as a leader if there was nothing divisive in terms of the content. He contexualized it in a way that others couldn't. He literally pointed out what was wrong with the writing. Hes been featured on major outlets because of his skills. Piers Morgan even had him on (hardly conservative).

Who do you want to challenge him exactly? You can call out all of these critics if you want but where are the true believers who can effectively challenge his opinion based on being a writer himself? There are plenty of people who will be critical of him without actually countering what he said. The argument that he is just an ist or a phobe is lazy and old. What I'm saying is, he is unchallenged on plot, structure, and how to actually write. The only argument I ever see on him is he is this name of that name.

He even does videos on fixing the plots of broken movies. Again, these guys would have no audience and these projects would be overwhelmingly successfull if they didn't have a point.

and on Jame O'Keefe, if you are saying, there is NO truth to what hes uncovered about Disney, you aren't being honest. I find it interesting that led with calling him a name. There has been plenty of other coverage, even there own website has detailed their DEI practices. Again, its funny how all of this comes out. Projects fail and Feige goes back to the old team to save the MCU.

I agree with you for some of the others that I named. They want clicks and they are overly negative.
DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 8/10/2024, 1:22 PM
@CreateNowSlpL8r -

Take Jeremy Jahns for instance. Was he also disappointed by The Acolyte? You bet. But you can also bet that his criticisms stemmed from a fan's perspective instead of whatever DEI cries of the week.

And that's just one example of several. For the sake of comparison, try to compare CinemaSins channel (the one that came up with the "everything wrong with X" format) to that of CinemaWins instead, which in contrast celebrates movies rather than bashing them. Again, you can tell what it is that drives viewership.
Blergh
Blergh - 8/10/2024, 1:45 PM
@DrReedRichards - not a fan of Stuckman either but I'll watch both their movies. It's a great time to be a film watcher, especially when critics make movies themselves.
Blergh
Blergh - 8/10/2024, 1:47 PM
@CreateNowSlpL8r - politics of the Drinker aside, I just can't stand his attitude. He's become so unappreciative of the filmmaking aspect that I feel he's seen what his audience wants to see from him and soley focused down on the hate.
CreateNowSlpL8r
CreateNowSlpL8r - 8/10/2024, 3:55 PM
@Blergh - I mean, to each their own. I'm just saying to lump all of these Youtubers together, and their viewers as just some malcontent army is painting with a broad brush.

@DrReedRichards I like Jeremy too. I still think calling out a large portion of the fan base because you think they will just shit on a movie over DEI isn't fair. Fallout, One Piece, Blue Eye Samurai, Furiosa, Shogun, and House of the Dragon are proof of this. These projects were supported by most of the YouTubers you mentioned and they could not have been successful without those same fans. This implies a larger problem or at least a possible misunderstanding in this culture war.

Now, are there viewers that exactly what you say? Of course but then its fair to say that modern media has also intentionally putting initiatives above quality. I don't know why this area isn't more grey or why true believers can never achknowledge this. We act like movies were never female led. The movie that kicked off all of this was Blade. How can there be such wide exceptions to that narrative and have it still be true? So I am fine if reviewers take that position and long as they can tell me how it affective the writing, the production or the acting. I feel like Drinker does that.
Blergh
Blergh - 8/10/2024, 4:10 PM
@CreateNowSlpL8r - Sure, not every viewer of the Drinker has the exact same views as the worst elements of his audience. I often watch his videos on purpose to get a dose of what people with other social opinions than me think is wrong with a movie. For example his Batwoman videos were interesting, he saw vastly different issues with the show than I did but ultimately the result was the same: both didn't like it.
DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 8/10/2024, 6:13 PM
@CreateNowSlpL8r -

I cannot speak in regards to most of the shows that you brought up since I have not watched them all. But when it comes to One Piece I can speak as a fan of every aspect of that series (manga, anime, Netflix).

There was one moment which made both TCD and NR root for that adaptation, and that moment was a certain female character's vocal acknowledgement of women as physically inferior to men. As absurd or stupid as that may sound to you for a reason, it is 100% there. This one solitary moment of men over women was enough to make those individuals root for a show that I guarantee you would have otherwise hated and abhored, had they truly taken the time to study its source material and understand what it represents at its core.

All it took for them to like One Piece was for a woman to actually say "you'll be better than me 'cause you're a man". Yes, it's that simple. So pardon me for not believing that they'd still be fans of Oda's current story, if they knew how he has evolved as a writer since 1997, when he first wrote that dialogue on page.
CreateNowSlpL8r
CreateNowSlpL8r - 8/10/2024, 8:05 PM
@DrReedRichards - I mean ...I think that is an over simplification of their critque. The Girl Boss trope has become way too much the norm in the last decade or more. Maybe they are sick of it? Is it realistic to have a 100 pound woman beat up a group of men? Is it possible they are tired of having a smarter, more capable girl boss make men look stupid? Is it possible the emasculation of male's in movies is old and tired?

So out of context, that comment seems misogynistic except if you follow all his podcasts and reviews, you would understand his point of view. Again, if Marvel for example thought staying the course was the right thing, why are they putting the old crew back together for the next Avengers movies?

And if all these guys just have opionions you dont agree with thats fine but there are a large number of people who agree with them. If nerdy males are your bread and butter, why would you buy a product (like Marvel) and do everything you could to piss off that customer. Doesn't seem like a good strategy to me.

I wouldn't buy and Ice Cream store with a large customer base and start selling Taco's there. If the customers rejected the Taco's, I wouldnt resort to calling them a problem.

Nerd like those guys used to complain about things like costumes in live action. They made the American comic book market what it is. It exploded in the 90's and they toy collecting nerds were there for it. Perspective is an important thing.

We are likely not going to agree but to take one comment and say that was the only reason they made the exception to the narrative isn't fair. Drinker likes Fallout a lot. I dont see a similar example. This broad brush sterotype is just getting all of us shitty content.

DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 8/10/2024, 8:18 PM
@CreateNowSlpL8r -

I feel like you're deliberately trying to justify those guys' behaviour because of their respective background, as if an action writer somehow has the right to be against physically stronger women, or a comic book seller has the right to be against women as leaders.

Their background is entirely inconsequential to the matter at hand, as it provides little to no context. That's like me telling you that 1+1=3, you telling me that it's not, and then me replying with the rebuttal that I studied math so your opinion is lesser to mine.

If anything, given their backgrounds as novel writer and comics seller respectively, and especially TCD's self-admitted complaint about modern entertainment being allegedly too political and not escapist enough, one might expect that they (as guys who claim to appreciate fiction by profession) would embrace and celebrate concepts like women overpowering men against all odds. Evidently not.

Again, their background is inconsequential to their input, and their input is almost always that of guided agitation.

@DrReedRichards - you just want it to be contratianism because it easily explains away your complacency. There are clearly problems with the movie industry related to how far they went with pushing their ideology, and a course correction seems to be in the works. People like the critical drinker have been vindicated.
