Daniel Craig Comments On Possible MCU Role After Missing Out On Playing Balder In DOCTOR STRANGE Sequel

No Time to Die star Daniel Craig was supposed to make a cameo appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as Balder, and the actor has now briefly commented on possibly joining the MCU...

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduced us to Earth-838's Illuminati. Led by Professor X, the group was also made up of "heroes" like Mister Fantastic, Black Bolt, Captain Carter, Master Mordo, and Captain Marvel.

We know plans changed with the roster over time, and that various characters were considered. Some actors may have even shot their cameo roles, though we know Daniel Craig wasn't among them. While the Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery star was eyed to play a Balder the Brave Variant, COVID and his commitments to No Time to Die stopped it from happening.

Craig is now done playing James Bond and has long been a fan-favourite choice to join the Marvel or DC Universes on screen. He's never seriously been linked to any particular role beyond Balder, but the actor is clearly on Kevin Feige's radar.

During a recent interview with Phase Zero, Craig was asked if he would be open to joining the MCU and issued a very brief response. "I should be so lucky," was all he said, clearly unwilling to elaborate further. Is it possible something is already being lined up for the former 007 in the hit Disney franchise?

With so many movies and TV shows in the works at Marvel Studios, we wouldn't be remotely surprised. The actor could no doubt do justice to countless heroes and villains, and with Bond in his rearview, now definitely seems like a good time for Craig to take a crack at something completely different.

We'll see, but fingers crossed that someone asks him directly about those plans for Balder during the remainder of Glass Onion's press tour. It could be he chooses to remain silent on the planned cameo, though.

There was an issue of Empire that Edgar Wright edited over the lockdown, had a bunch of famous peeps chiming in with their favourite moments at the cinema, and Craig mentioned like 2 MCU movies so I think he's genuinely a pretty big fan. Dunno why that surprises me but would love to see him, preferably as a better character than Balder though, no offence to Balder-Heads.

He dodged a bullet.
Thor, Love & Blunder was absolute TRASH.

Nothing is wrong with a balance of light humor, but not a whole damn comedy man...

If we can get someone that takes Thor SERIOUSLY, and understands the mythos, someone like Peter Jackson or Guillermo Del Toro, then I think they can get Chris Hemsworth to stick around much longer.

If we can get someone like Antione Fuqua to take over from the Black Panther franchise, then they might be able to redeem themselves there as well.

He dodged that bullet. Imagine how many bald head jokes Taika would have crammed in there.
