While it's likely we'll see
Doctor Strange's next full appearance in
Avengers: Infinity War, the possibilities are endless when it comes to the future of Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme after his first film releases on November 4th.
Director Scott Derrickson confirmed to
Den of Geek that he's been thinking about ideas for a sequel, given his love for the character and the source material.
"I love the character, I love the visual possibilities, and I know the comics so well - [the first movie is] the tip of an iceberg. There's so much progress that can be made."
Derrickson elaborated that he'd like to dig into a future villain akin to how Christopher Nolan handled the Joker and Two-Face in
The Dark Knight, being able to explore that territory with the hero's origin out of the way.
"What made The Dark Knight so great was that the origin story of Batman had been well-told, and then it was time to bring in a villain where you really got to go deep. And not just the Joker, also Two-Face. It was a more visceral experience, I’d love to be able to do that for Doctor Strange."
In the meantime, Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will have to contend with Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelson) in the first installment of what could be a magical franchise. What villain or stories would you like to see adapted in a future
Doctor Strange film? Let us know in the comments.
