There's a Clifford The Big Red Dog movie coming out next year, and we know this because Paramount has just shared the first teaser!
The brief video pans along a line of real pooches before introducing the giant Labrador retriever, who promptly licks the screen.
The live-action/CG hybrid adaptation is based on the Scholastic children's book series by Norman Bridwell, and stars Darby Camp (Big Little Lies) as a little girl who acquires a very special pup from a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) before embarking on an adventure around NYC with her new 10-foot pal and her uncle (Jack Whitehall) along for the ride.
The CGI used to bring Clifford to life has come in for some ridicule, but we're sure he's a very good boy.
When middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gifts her a little, red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant ten-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. While her single mom (Sienna Guillory) is away for business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) set out on an adventure that will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat as our heroes take a bite out of the Big Apple. Based on the beloved Scholastic book character, Clifford will teach the world how to love big!
Clifford the Big Red Dog is set to bound into theaters on December 5, 2021.
