Hugh Grant has joined the cast of Paramount and eOne's big-budget Dungeons and Dragons adaptation as the main villain, with It and I Am Not Okay With This actress Sophia Lillis also on board in a supporting role.
Grant, who played one of the greatest cinematic baddies of all time in Paddington 2, will not be donning the cape of the demonic Venger from the D&D animated series (mores the pity), however, as his character is named Forge Fletcher. Lillis is playing Doric.
They join previously announced cast members Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar, Fast 9), Justice Smith (Detective Pikachu, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Rege-Jean Page (Bridgerton), but we have no details whatsoever on their characters.
Wonder Woman 1984's Chris Pine is set to play the lead.
Game Night directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are set to helm the project, and also wrote the latest version of the script based on a previous draft by Michael Gilio.
Derek Kolstad (John Wick; The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) has also been hired to write and develop a separate live-action Dungeons & Dragons television series, but again, details are few and far between.
Just a wild guess, but we're going to assume this take on the best-selling fantasy RPG won't be taking itself too seriously.
