"I honestly love the initial rumor from way back when, which was James McAvoy," he said.

"I think he would be fantastic, I'm a fan of his work and I think he's the right age and I think that he has a quality to him that could fit quite nicely with what Ian Holm did in the first movie."

McAvoy isn't the worst choice I've heard by far, and I think he is a good actor, but there's just something about him that annoys me..I can't put my finger on it. Anyway, He's a damn site better than most of the other names that are being thrown around, and that includes David "acts with his eyebrow" Tennant!(Sorry Who fans:)

great choice, and has done this kind of fantasy film before i.e. The Fawn in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe adaptation :) he was also great in 'Last King of Scotland'.

Would be a great Bilbo, and Hollywood seems to like him.

NorrinRadd, Ha! I love it! Now if only I had a pan-galactic-gargle-blaster to wash it down with.

@norrinradd85 Yeah! Martin Freeman would make a great Bilbo and a perfect younger version of Ian Holm!

I'm not stoked on McAvoy

I'm with Ror, there's something about him I dislike. I 'Wanted' to punch him in the face watching that movie.

McAvoy or any young actor is a terrible choice for the role.

Bilbo didn't age at all from the time of The Hobbit all the way up to Fellowship of the Ring. he was the same age for the 60 year gap because of the power of the one ring, and once he gave it up he started aging rapidly to what he should have been.

it makes no sense to have an actor in his 60s portay him in Fellowship only to have a young guy play him in the Hobbit when he is supposed to be look the same age in both movies.
