Deadline reports that Fox have picked up the rights to Athena, a drama from writer Lisa Joy (Pushing Daisies) which is based on her graphic novel, Headache. The site describes it as, "a coming-of-age drama about a 23 year-old woman who discovers she’s Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and warfare. Each week she must maintain her secret identity while battling a slew of ancient monsters from Greek mythology and searching to uncover which of the other Greek gods is secretly plotting against her to take over the Earth." An interesting premise, eh? Joy will write the pilot and also executive produce alongside Peter Chernin (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Katherine Pope (New Girl, Terra Nova).

The graphic novel does sound interesting. I love Greek mythology.

This TV show just makes me want to see a well done live-action Wonder Woman show.

@astromerc I heard awful things about the pilot for the new WW TV show. I agree though, I wouldn't mind seeing DC/WB giving it the old college try to get a new, well adapted WW show going.

@TheAlexLynch Making Wonder Woman a CEO was a bit of an odd choice. That's not getting off to the best start.

They should have made Diana a government agent or a rescue worker. I hope they learn from their mistakes next time they want to do a WW TV show.
