Just one day after officially hanging up Superman's cape at the behest of DC Studios, Henry Cavill has lined up a future project - and it's something near and dear to the British actor's heart.

Jeff Sneider initially reported that he'd heard Amazon had acquired (or was close to acquiring) the rights to the popular Warhammer 40,000 miniature game, and that Cavill might be in line to star. Now, THR has confirmed the news.

Though it sounds like the project is in the very early stages of development, Cavill is indeed in talks to star and executive produce a series adaptation of the sci-fi fantasy game.

Cavill is an avid player, and, coincidentally (we assume?), Midnight Mass actor Rahul Kohli Tweeted the following after learning that Cavill had parted ways with the Man of Steel.

The trade stresses that Amazon hasn't actually closed the deal yet, and even if and when they do, this will most likely not be Cavill's next gig.

According to THR's synopsis, Warhammer is set 40,000 years into the future "where things are dark indeed. Human civilization has stopped progressing and is in an unending war with aliens and magical beings, with gods and demons figuring into a theological class system. The humans make up the Imperium of Man, who are militaristic. A race of skeleton-like androids are known as the Necron; there is an elvish race known as Aeldari as well as Orks; Tyranids are nasty aliens; and the T’au is a blue-skinned alien race that may offer some hope."

What do you guys make of this news? Any Warhammer players out there? Drop us a comment down below.

I know nothing about Warhammer except for the "dudes in big f*cking suits of armor" part. But good for him, he ain't gonna be starving for work.

kind of weird he left one show and not like after is going to another

so was Witcher always going to be short term or is there really something to the story about creatives mocking the source material and thats why he left

or this is just to fill time while he finds a franchise
