Okay to be perfectly honest, I am a HUGE fan of the original, but that wasn't my main reasoning for my dislike of this film. There were too many slow parts of the film where they showed off the scenery, it reminded me of Lord of the Rings as it was mostly a movie about people walking... Sam Worthington seemed like he half ass a lot of his lines and acting. And so many things about the movie bothered me that I found my self shaking my head in annoyance or rolling my eyes at the stupidity of the scenes.
One thing that bothers me... Why did everyone have to leave the room for Zeus to yell at Hades, "Release the Kraken!"
Also how many times does Worthington have to flip in a fight? I'm sorry but the fights would've been better without this schmuck flipping around like he's Jackie Chan.
Also why does he have a frikin shaved head or buzz cut or whatever you call that hair style, while EVERYONE ELSE has long hair. "One of these things don't belong, one of these things is not like the others..."
Another thing is HOW FRIKIN LONG does it take for the Kraken to raise from the ocean? It took like almost 10 frikin minutes to reveal him and it was boring despite adding the whole chase scene with Perseus and those gargoyle thingys. I will admit the Kraken did look way better than the gigantic sea monkey looking version from the original.
Now I can respect the changes they made to the story and they did seem to fit together but the thing I loved about the original is it's about a hero's journey and him going against the impossible for the woman he loved. It is truly one of my favorite stories and it bothered me that they totally went against that in this story, but overall the story they did wasn't bad. I did enjoy Hades. Also some of the effects were pretty good. Overall though I would say it's a C Not a bad movie but wait til DVD. Go see Kick Ass. lol.
