Jack Sparrow Is Running Out Of Luck In A New Synopsis For PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5

A new synopsis for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has emerged, and it appears that life on the seven seas isn't great for Johnny Depp's swashbuckling scoundrel, Captain Jack Sparrow...

Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean franchise will be returning to theatres this May with its fifth installment, Dead Men Tell No Tales, and a new synopsis for the film has offered a better look at the film's story. The summary reveals that we'll find a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) aboard a pathetically small ship, The Dying Gull.

Sparrow is being hunted by Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) and his crew of ghost sailors, who are on a mission to eliminate every pirate who sails the seas. Sparrow will need to find the Trident of Poseidon if he hopes to survive. Strangely, the synopsis makes no mention of Orlando Bloom's Will Turner, who will be making a return to the story after his absence in the fourth film.

Check out the full synopsis below and let us know what you think!

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea – notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Benton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” also stars Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, Golshifteh Farahani as the sea-witch Shansa, David Wenham as Scarfield, Stephen Graham as Scrum, and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will release on May 26, 2017.

First its the British Navy wanting to eliminate every pirate sailing the seas, then Davy Jones wanting to eliminate pirates and civilians sailing the seas, then the British controlling Davy Jones to eliminate every pirate sailing the seas, then Blackbeard wanting to not only eliminate every pirate from the seas, but collect their ships, now its this nonsense. I'll save my money this movie.

Orlando's character doesn't have to be in every movie. Gibbs, and the rest of the crew are great comic relief though. How about those two soldiers turned pirates? The pirate with the wood eye? Those guys crack me up!

I detest these movies. I actually found the first couple fun but they got so bad that they tarnished my feelings towards the originals, and now Jack Sparrow annoys the hell out of me.

@RorMachine - LOL I feel you, the first two were great and then it all went downhill.

Synopsis make it sound like a copy/paste of OST (which I really didn't like).

Still excited, though.

Best part of this franchise is the bad guys.

@ElJefe -

The villain for the new film is essentially Davey Jones + The skeletal villains from the first film.

He has the same movements, his backstory is tied to the sea, he's undead and has a waving aspect in terms of his hair (similar to the tentacles of Davey Jones)

@Scarilian - Thought the same thing when I saw it but hopefully Jarvier Bardem will make it awesome.

Sans that last sentence, this synopsis has been around for awhile, right?

No, it hasn't. Hence "New synopsis" in the title. No mention of the new ship or supporting characters.

Previous one was:

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

@MattBellissimo - Ha. No need to get defensive. I never implied that it wasn't a "New synopsis". I was just asking a question. I knew something similar was floating around, just wasn't sure what. We've known about the Henry and Carina characters and their roles for awhile now. Nice to see Disney put out something official.

Really hoping that this one rejuvenates the franchise!

@LeonardTheWise - Well, that's true, but now it seems like everybody hates these movies and not planning on seeing this one. But I'm over here practically standing in line for my popcorn, soda, and ticket already. Haha.

@Christuffer - I'll be there opening day bro, I love the first one, and the designs of the second one, this franchise was like the birth of the new BIG blockbuster.
