THE LORD OF THE RING: THE RINGS OF POWER Promo Heralds Sauron's Arrival; Final Trailer Tomorrow

"We knew him as Sauron."

We're now less than two weeks away from the double-episode premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and Prime Video has released a new TV spot focusing on the return of a "nameless fear" to Middle Earth.

The recent SDCC trailer seemingly revealed that the demonic villain (played by Bridie Sisson) will take on his "fair" Annatar form when the show begins in order to deceive the Elves and trick Celibrimbor into forging the rings, but it has been confirmed that he will shape-shift throughout the course of the season.

This means we will likely see something a little closer to his black-armoured warrior look from Peter Jackson's movies at some point. Indeed, we see a dark figure striding through a group of Orcs in this promo - though that may not be Sauron (these teasers do employ misdirection from time to time, after all).

The streamer has also announced that a final trailer for the show will be released at some point tomorrow, so be sure to keep an eye out.

Amazon Studios’ forthcoming series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.

Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power stars Morfydd Clark, Benjamin Walker, Charles Edwards, Charlie Vickers, Markella Kavenagh, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Tyroe Muhafidin, Maxim Baldry, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Leon Wadham, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.

I hope that if Sauron is gonna show up in battles, he's just gonna use his fists this time around to gibve everybody a good smacking.

That said, having seeing Fellowship of the Ring on the big screen now, really makes me like the look of this show less. If this manages to even come halfway close to the epicness of Lord of the Rings though, I'm gonna put this only complaint I have to bed.

I rewatched the prologue of Fellowship last night on YT. Holy [frick] Peter Jackson just killed it. Felt like real history I was watching despite how mythic it all his. He sure nailed the tone.

Sasson is NOT playing Sauron. This was officially confirmed after the rumors began. Most likely this is a Sauron or Morgoth cultist

“Evil doesn’t sleep. It waits.” Great accidental Zack Snyder’s Justice League call back! The line right before Steppenwolf appears.

@WarMonkey - Me too. Goosebumps first watching it when that warrior clenches her face, “WE HAVE NO FEAR!” One of my favorite moments from the movie for sure. Love it

No race swapping for the villains hey? Gee, I wonder why?

Also.....Aragon has just been made into a black man in other LOTR content. What a [frick]ing joke

This looks like such a total croc of shit.

Can't wait for this to bomb and someone comes out and says "It's because racists couldn't stand to see black elves."

When in reality this show just looks like someone ate the pages of the book and crapped out a log with words like "elf" and "Sauron" on it. It's still piece of shit

Bridie isn’t playing Sauron. This article is incorrect.
