THE LORD OF THE RINGS Sets His Plan In Motion In New BTS Teaser For THE RINGS OF POWER Season 2

The first trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was released online yesterday afternoon, and Prime Video has now followed-up with a special "Look Inside" featurette spotlighting quite a bit of new footage.

The video takes us behind-the-scenes of the sophomore season of the LOTR prequel series, as the main cast members bring us up to speed on their respective characters.

By far the biggest talking point from the trailer is the return of Sauron, who has now taken his Elven "Annatar" form in an effort to hide out in Eregion. If the show follows the lore, the "Giver of Gifts" will befriend Celebrimbor and aid him in the making of the Nine (that were given to men) and Seven Rings (gifted to the Dwarves) of Power.

Of course, Celebrimbor and the other Elven smiths already met Sauron when he was disguised as Halbrand in the season 1 finale. We're not sure why he's now supposed to be unrecognizable after a shower, dye-job and a pair of pointy ears, but we'll go with it and assume he appears very different to their eyes.

Check out the new BTS featurette below, and let us know if you're looking forward to more Rings of Power in the comment section.

"Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will."

"Building on Season 1’s epic scope and ambition, Season 2 of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity."

"Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots... as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all.. each other."

Returning cast members include Morfydd Clark, Benjamin Walker, Charles Edwards, Charlie Vickers, Markella Kavenagh, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Tyroe Muhafidin, Maxim Baldry, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Trystan Gravelle, Ema Horvath, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Leon Wadham, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.

Sam Hazeldine (Peaky Blinders) replaces Joseph Mawle as Adar, with Ciarán Hinds (Game of Thrones), Rory Kinnear (Penny Dreadful), and Tanya Moodie (The Man Who Fell to Earth) joining the ensemble in key roles.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 returns to Prime Video on August 29.

I hope it overcomes the sh!tty first season and actually becomes good.

Beautiful scenery & more inclusivity are great, but they aren't enough. They completely forgot the quality entertainment part.

Cool , looking forward to it!!.

Also , whose to say that Celebrimbor doesn’t immediately recognize Sauron when he sees him since they interacted when the latter was masquerading as “Halbrand”…

All we see is him supposedly being met by a blinding light & silhouette in his workshop and it does seem like he will tell Galadriel and the others about it but as we know ,Sauron is a master manipulator and will no doubt influence Celebrimbor by appealing to his ambition as we saw in S1 if I remember correctly.

Anyway , S1 was enjoyable imo but this does seem like an improvement!!.

Haven't seen this show, but I've read that Amazon considers it a success, although a record number of viewers didn't finish the first season. 🤔

Didn't even know this was filmed already! Looks like they kept the Villeneuve aesthetic. Awsome!

@UniqNo - Wow that looks legit. I like that they aren’t shying away from how shady and borderline bad the Bene Gesserit are. And how they use their sexuality and mind control powers to manipulate politics, which we only got a brief view into in Dune 2.

Hoping that since this is set in the era that it is, that we get a bit more of the history of the universe and how the society that more mirrors our own experienced its downfall as I believe this is supposed to be set shortly after those events.

@mountainman - for real! This is the one franchise I don't mind getting a further expansion on....for now at least until they milk it!.

@UniqNo - Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a franchise these days that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Let’s just enjoy this one while we can. We should be safe with justifiable sequels/prequels and side stories for a number of years before we get to that point at least.

@mountainman - I loved that part of part two. But, I always thought of the Harkonan's as non-human am I wrong? They certainly don't look human
mountainman
mountainman - 5/15/2024, 2:33 PM
@narrow290 - They are human. Realize this is more than 10,000 years in our future. I know their pale skin is because of their black sun, but not entirely sure why the Baron was always so odd looking. I can just chalk it up to strange futuristic scifi treatments he received, like that oil bath he always soaked in.

The first half of the initial season I admit was less than thrilling in a lot of ways. But I stuck with the whole season and I'm glad I did. The final 3 episodes, maybe 4 but definitely the last 3 were great in my eyes. Really showed what the show should have been from the beginning. So I'm looking forward to this new season to see if they continue on the higher note that they left off season one on.

TheVisionary25 - 5/15/2024, 12:34 PM
@Mugens - I get yah

The first 3 or 4 episodes were laying the groundwork and establishing the world & characters (maybe a bit too slowly at times but still) hence why the last 3-4 were as effective as they were

Definitely seems like with that out of the way, this season hits the ground running!!

S1 needed work, but at least the action scenes were well done.
