Mondo, the collectible art boutique arm of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, is excited to announce their first-ever print for Peter Jackson’s "The Lord of the Rings," kicking off a series that will include all films and multiple artists. The first poster in the series, "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" by artist Aaron Horkey was unveiled this evening at Mondo Mystery Movie X at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING
Artist: Aaron Horkey
Size: 19.25 x 39
Edition: 260 (regular), 125 (variant)

They're quite something, eh? The coloured version of the poster was handed out at the Mondo Mystery Movie screening earlier tonight, while the variant was made available for those who spent the entire day waiting in line for it. Now that Mondo has nabbed the Lord of the Rings license, fans should expect to see plenty of other fantastic posters based on the trilogy in the coming weeks and months.

I must be the only one who thinks it's awful. if you took away the lotr banner 99% of people would have no idea it's lotr related.

I've got to be honest. I'm not a big fan of the Mondo posters. This is one of the better looking ones I've seen, but I have to agree with grandizer74. If you didn't know what you were looking at, you probably wouldn't guess that it's LOTR related.

It's way too busy and doesn't give a good depiction of the film.

first one is really cool ... but i agree, hard to tell their LOTR related without the wording

That's what we are saying. If it did not say Lord of the Rings and you didn't know what you were looking at, it would be hard to tell from the artwork alone that it is LOTR related.
