To the complete dismay of fans, 'Supernatural' is currently going through it's last hellatus (hiatus) of the 6th season with the show returning April 15th. There are only 6 episodes left in this season and they're looking like nothing short of interesting, Dean & Sam in the wild west? Sounds like another humor heavy episode.
The folks over at BuddyTv have given us this list of episode titles and general spoilers for the rest of the season so if you don't want to be spoiled, read no further.
- Episode 6.17: "My Heart Will Go On" (April 15)
According to SpoilerTV, this episode will feature a character named Atropos, who was one of the Greek Fates in charge of the inevitability of death, implementing how people would die. Armed with that information, it seems this episode will be partly similar to the Final Destination films, regarding the fact that you can't avoid your fate and that death, much like life in Jurassic Park, finds a way. And while I'm not sure, we know that Samantha Ferris is returning at some point as Ellen, and with an episode all about death, this seems like the most logical one for her to show up in, especially given the production schedule.
- Episode 6.18: "Frontierland" (April 22)
This will be the very exciting time travel episode that sends Sam and Dean back to the Old West where they meet Samuel Colt (played by Memphis Beat star Sam Hennings). I smell an origin story for the Colt, which means the infamous demon-killing gun could be back to play a big role in the season.
- Episode 6.19: "Mommy Dearest" (April 29)
We already know that this episode will feature the return of Amber Benson as Lenore, a vampire last season back in season 2. Odds are that makes this a big vampire episode, so we may learn more about the Alpha Vampire's plan to create a vamp army. The title also suggests that the Mother of All will be back to reveal more of her plan in this episode.
- Episode 6.20: "The Man Who Would Be King" (May 6)
According to SpoilerTV, this episode will be written and directed by Ben Edlund. It marks the first time Edlund has directed an episode of Supernatural, and only the second time he's ever directed a TV episode (the first was the brilliant Angel puppet episode "Smile Time").
In addition, SpoilerTV also reveals the rather major spoiler that Mark Sheppard will be returning in this episode. Given the episode's title, that's hardly a surprise. When you hear "king" and "Supernatural," your first thought should be of Crowley, the King of Hell. If my original theory was correct, this could mean he orchestrated his "death" so that he would go to Purgatory, so maybe he's found a way to cheat death. He wouldn't be the first person on this show to do it.
- Episodes 6.21 and 6.22: "The Haunter of the Dark, Parts 1 and 2" (May 20)
This marks the first time since season 2's "All Hell Breaks Loose" that Supernatural has done a definite two-parter, which carries a lot of weight since that episode saw Sam die, Dean make a deal to give up his soul for his brothers, Azazel succeed in opening the Devil's Gate, and Azazel die with an assist from a dead John.
The episode gets its title from an H.P. Lovecraft story. My loose attempt to understand it reveals that The Haunter of the Dark is about a supernatural creature brought forth with great knowledge, but which demands a huge sacrifice. Apparently this force, the Haunter of the Dark, takes over the main character but is then struck by lightening and killed. I won't pretend to know what it all means, but it sounds vaguely like the end of last season when Sam, taken over by Lucifer, jumped into the cage.
What does this have to do with the season 6 finale? Maybe there are ties to Sam, the cage, Lucifer, Michael (and the Winchesters' half-brother Adam) and the Mother of All? To be fair, I'm a little confused by what I've read about the Lovecraft story, so if anyone has any better ideas, I'd love to hear them.
