Before The Lord Of The Rings and Game Of Thrones, we had George Lucas and Ron Howard's fantasy adventure, Willow. The 1988 movie is generally considered to be something of a noble failure, but it still has a dedicated cult following all these years later.
The first teaser trailer for the upcoming sequel series debuted during yesterday's Star Wars Celebration (via SFF Gazette), and has now been released online.
Set 20 years after the events of Ron Howard's original, this Disney+ follow-up will focus on the titular Nelwyn sorcerer (the returning Warwick Davis), his daughter (Davis' real-life kid Annabelle) and a new group of adventurers as they embark on a journey to "correct the balance" between good and evil.
It was also announced that Joanne Whalley will reprise her role as villain-turned-hero Sorsha from the 1988 movie. She joins previously announced leads Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Cailee Spaeny and Erin Kellyman, and Rosabell Laurenti Sellers.
Check out the teaser below along with an updated synopsis, and let us know what you think in the comments.
The story began with an aspiring magician from a Nelwyn village and an infant girl destined to unite the realms, who together helped destroy an evil queen and banish the forces of darkness. Now, in a magical world where brownies, sorcerers, trolls, and other mystical creatures flourish, the adventure continues, as an unlikely group of heroes set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world.
Willow is set to premiere on November 30.
