The good news about the show is, that the Disney Channel got it back on air, after renewing its fourth season, this year itself. You can view all the previous Wizards of Waverly Place episodes and seasons online, in case you missed them. The entire series is shot in New York's Greenwich Village neighborhood, i.e., Manhattan. The story centers the lives of an Italian-Mexican family. The five members of the Russo family, include the three siblings, along with their father, Jerry (David DeLuise), who is also a magician, and mother Theresa (María Canals Barrera) who is a normal human being.

The Wizards of Waverly Place series, an adaptation of ‘Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie’ somewhat corresponds with J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, because that too revolves around themes of magic and fantasy. Hints of surrealism and supernatural can be clearly seen in both. Like the three siblings in Wizards of Waverly Place, Harry Potter too, is a chronicle of three best friends, who are blessed with magical powers. But that is about where the similarities end.

In Wizards of Waverly Place Episodes too, the life of all the three siblings, revolves around getting well acquainted with the skills of magic, so that they can become better wizards and witches. In a way, Harry stands against his enemy to avenge his parent’s tragic death, but in Wizards of Waverly Place, the siblings battle against each other, to acquire magical skills to protect their home, against the mortal world.

Jerry Russo, often discourages his children from getting addicted to magic and encourages them to try and accomplish things without its help. The reason he does this is that only one out of the three siblings will be able to retain his or her powers, once the challenge ends.

In a nutshell, Harry Potter and Wizards of Waverly Place are on parallel parameters, but with different plotlines. The latter’s season 4 episodes feature an opening scene, that restores where season 3 ended. Alex and Justin Russo are shown in the Crystal ball replay, whereas Theresa and Jerry are shown in deep dismay.
