2007's Ghost Rider was written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson, who also provided the same two services on Ben Affleck's Daredevil. The film starred Nicolas Cage as John ″Johnny″ Blaze/Ghost Rider,  Eva Mendes as Roxanne Simpson, Peter Fonda as Mephistopheles, Wes Bentley as Blackheart, Sam Elliott as Carter Slade/Phantom Rider/Caretaker and Donal Logue as Mack. Check out the video below to see "Everything Wrong With Ghost Rider."

Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage) was only a teenaged stunt biker when he sold his soul to the devil (Peter Fonda). Years later, Johnny is a world renowned daredevil by day, but at night, he becomes the Ghost Rider of Marvel Comics legend. The devil's bounty hunter, he is charged with finding evil souls on earth and bringing them to hell. But when a twist of fate brings Johnny's long-lost love (Eva Mendes) back into his life, Johnny realizes he just might have a second chance at happiness...if he can beat the devil and win back his soul. To do so he'll have to defeat Blackheart (Wes Bentley), the devil's nemesis and wayward son, whose plot to take over his father's realm will bring hell on earth-unless Ghost Rider can stop him.

This was the dark ages for comic-book movies.

I hate this movie with a passion.

@SpiderFraud
Just because it was pre-marvel does not make it "dark age"

Now, turn this into an Eva Mendes thread.

This one wasn't too bad. The sequel was essentially unwatchable - worst CBM I've ever seen, and I saw the 1990 Captain America.

What would it not be a dark age for comic book movies? Everything that came out around that time was horrible.

I had the Marvel Ultimate Alliance video game for my Gameboy. It was a Christmas present and one that I will always cherish for it left behind great memories. The special move you could do with Ghost Rider where he is summoned up and rides everywhere burning everyone in his path was always the most fun part of the game!

@Carl - Nailed it. Nick Cage sucks! destroyed the character and they had the nerve to do a sequel... Are you kidding me!

I think these things nitpick movies to death. Yeah Ghost Rider didn't have a lot going for it but when one of you "things wrong with the movie" is a carnival...with no real explanation. I throw the BS flag. Blast the movie for being stupid but when you blast the premise...which is lifted from the comics...it just seems spiteful.

They should just do an everything right with Ghost Rider. The video would be much shorter.

I feel like if this would have came out after TDK, It would have been a much better film in terms of style and tone. I feel like the script was good but the director made the tone to cartoony.

But it did have some cool parts watching ghost rider go up that building and try to bring down the helicopter was pretty badass to watch in live action.

It should have been rated R and been more of a horror movie than a superhero movie

Nic Cage was Johnny Blaze that is what was wrong with it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Ghost Rider. The sequel/nonsequel, on the other hand, was complete unwatchable trash.

Even the bodacious body of Eva Mendes couldn't save this ridiculous movie. Both Ghostrider movies are in my bottom five comic book movies of all time.

Nic Cage as Johnny Blaze pretty much ruined one of my all-time favorite comic-book characters. I really wish this movie didn't exist already, as well as its sequel, so Marvel could had done it right the first time.

I just hope once Doctor Strange is set in place -that Feige expands the supernatural world to include Marvel's Ghost Rider. In my opinion, Marvel is the only studio that does justice to its properties. I really wish the other studios had a Feige at its center to control the inconsistencies that individual directors/writers bring to those combined universes. I've lost faith, since the introduction of the MCU, of the other studios visions. It's all jumbled, remixed or rearranged to accommodate their next movie. I can't see their bigger vision. Maybe in 2016 or 2017 or 2018 -it'll all make sense.
