Lee Toland Krieger, who helmed the Superman and Lois pilot for The CW, has signed on to direct the first two episodes of the upcoming Green Lantern HBO Max series from Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim.

Krieger has previously directed features such as Celeste & Jesse Forever and The Age of Adaline before moving to TV. In addition to Superman and Lois, he helmed the pilot and several episodes for Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Prodigal Son, Shadow and Bone and Deadly Class.

Specific plot details for the show are still under wraps, but we do know that the story will play out over multiple time-periods. Finn Wittrock will play Guy Gardner for the '80s-setting, and we recently heard that Jeremy Irvine was in talks to play Alan Scott in the '40s.

The War Horse actor has since confirmed his casting via Instagram.

Simon Baz, Jessica Cruz and a new alien Lantern named Bree Jarta will also feature, so keep an eye out for casting news in the coming weeks. A recent character breakdown seemingly confirmed that the villainous Sinestro will factor into the story.

Green Lantern is scheduled to commence production this summer in LA.

Is this gonna have more of the CW feel because I feel like it’s going in that direction?

I have kinda changed my tune after Superman & Lois, but still...hopefully they are betting on this series, cause it sure has potential.

ESPECIALLY if its meant to crossover with the movies.

And everything starts with the casting.

Set partially in the 40’s makes some sense, the 80’s? Not so much. Unless this expands and catches up the modern day. It’s HBO so I have high hopes, but it’s DC so I have low expectations

That SUCKS no big screen Cinema effects for Green Lantern. Anything that goes to HBO-Max I will have to miss.

At least I can count on Marvels 4 movies a year in the theaters plus the Disney + shows.

Yes Alan Scott!
The pilot for Superman & Lois is still my favorite so I definitely love that he's doing the first two episodes of GL and hopefully will be as spectacular as S&L

Looks a bit young for the role. Would have went with more of a kevin costner in untouchables type

That's not Alan Scott's oath. He isn't a member of GLC.

So is this going the way of Emerald Knights with different lantern stories? Cuz if it is I don't hate it. Loved that movie. It would be cool to see if they can find a lantern that everyone loves to focus on out of that then.
