Well folks, I’d first like to thank everyone who entered. This was an awesome opportunity to get a physical representation of something I conjured up. They’re all wonderful and will definitely be used in my series for sure. There was such a diverse sense of the character here it was EXTREMELY difficult to narrow it down to what I see as the best.
I personally find it harder to choose the 2nd and 3rd place spot; because of the nature of the contest, there was one that instantly said “Here’s Kayl’r Dreq II” from the first time I saw it, whereas 2nd and 3rd more of a debate within myself as to which ones I thought fit closer to what I envisioned more-so than the rest. Maybe it’s just me, oh well.
Without further adieu I bring you the 3rd place contest :
Matt Zolman!
Captures the details wonderfully. The scale base Hal Jordan is a wonderful touch, gives you an excellent reference as to how big these creatures are. Definitely has a tree feel, someone pointed out kind of volcanic, very true, yet still embodies the essence of the character. As 3rd place this picture will be used as the basis for the Character Kayl’r Dreq. The “father” of Durlon Dreq and grandfather of Kayl’r Dreq II.
Congratulations Matt, you will be receiving, from me, a Series 2 Green Lantern Sinestro (in Green Lantern Uniform) figure found
Here
In 2nd place we have DDD! (sounds like a nickname for Power Girl, doesn’t it? It’s not though)
This was a bit tougher decision, but it came down to this contestant who has done an amazing color job, detail to more of the world around the character(s) including the ruling species, the Sikdar. Again, great color, texture and overall feel for the character and surroundings. As 2nd place, this will used as the basis for Durlon Dreq, father of Kayl’r Dreq II and the first Green Lantern from his planet.
Congratulations DDD, you’ve done excellent work and for that I will be sending you a Series 6 Superman/Batman “Enemies Among Us” Hal Jordan figure found
Here
Now finally, we come to the winner. The first place choice of mine as this drawing represents fully, to a T, what I had pictured in my head of Kayl’r Dreq II. As soon as I saw it I said to myself “That’s it. That’s exactly what he should be.” The color is spot on, the shape and texture are as good as I could have imagined. The placement of the limbs, eyes, sac, everything is absolutely wonderful. I couldn’t have asked for a better representation of my character.
The 1st Place contestant, winner of the 3 DVD collection from CBM.com
along with the Series 2 Kingdom Come Green Lantern Alan Scott figure found ,
here ,as well as I will be using this as the main player in my monthly series based on the main character, my very own Green Lantern: Kayl’r Dreq II.
Drumroll PLEASE! I bring you the winner of the “My GL Creation” Fan Art Contest….John Conley!
Congratulations to you 3 as well as everyone who entered the contest. I couldn’t have asked for better, more original concepts for this character. You all did a damn fine job and I appreciate your work sincerely. I will be using ALL of the entries as pictures in my series throughout it’s run.
I would like to give some special thanks to;
SHAMAN; for giving me the idea for a contest, as well as fleshing out some of the details for the character. Thanks man, your help is always much appreciated.
RORSCHACH01; For giving me the first glimpse into what a brand new character could look like. You breathed life into the character for the first time and that is freakin’ awesome! Thanks.
MICAH BROWN; For helping me flesh out some new details that weren’t previously thought of about the characters past, their planet, solar system etc. Your artwork is amazing and will definitely be the quintessential “passing of the ring” moment for each of the GL’s in the family.
Once again congratulations to EVERYONE who entered, great jobs all around and I hope to see you all again in the “Watchmen” and subsequent Art Contests. Good Job and Good Luck to all!
