In a recent interview with Show Biz Spy, CBM big name Ryan Reynolds - who plays Green Lantern next month - opens up about his love for the 1960s Batman TV series, and remembered it especially as he was playing Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern film. From ShowBizSpy.com:

The Hollywood hunk says he used to worship Adam West‘s camp version of the Caped Crusader and couldn’t help but think back to his days as a Bat fan as he pulled on his Green Lantern suit for this summer’s big blockbuster movie.

“I would watch Batman and Robin, with Adam West all the time when I was a kid,” says Ryan. “I loved that stuff. It was all really campy because the technology was never there so It’s a dream come true to play a comic book hero and do the character justice. It’s very special to be part of the comic book world.”

Agreed. The Adam West Batman is fun for what it was at the time. I dug it when I was a kid too. Where else can you see Bat-Shark repelant?

Actually, Adam West was VERY Batmanish for it's time. He played the part straight. Everything else was played up as camp. Which was an entertaining contrast. The kids watching took it more seriously than the adults who enjoyed the show on another level.

the 1960s Batman was fantastic to watch as a kid. For its time it was a really great experience watching. The cartoons and comics of that time had the same feel. So I have no grouse against the show. I read somewhere that it was intended to be comical and it succeeded in doing so IMO.
Now if you want to use that same type of style in todays age (cough...Batman & Robin, cough...cough), now that's just plain stupid

Reynolds is a great dude! Great actor, funny as hell and will be an EPIC Hal Jordan.

And such a good guy he only recited the GL oath for a fan kid and refused to do it for reporters.

Adam West's Batman...LOL. Great, campy fun back in the day! ;D

Still love the "shark repelent bat spray" or whatever it was, LOL

@PuyGuy Seriously, that troll comment deserve a facepalm so huge that the entire world would just be embarrased by how stupid your comment is.

Anyway, the Batman tv series from the 60s is a pretty good live action adaption of the silver age comics. So it is pretty awesome to watch when you see it in the old school perspective instead of the modern day way.
