BOX OFFICE: TMNT Passes $300M; GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Tops MAN OF STEEL
The Michael Bay produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles has reached another milestone today. However, Guardians of the Galaxy is nearing $600 million worldwide and has now topped the total amount taken by Man of Steel domestically. Hit the jump for a round-up of box office numbers...
Guardians of the Galaxy, the movie that everyone said would be Marvel Studios' first flop, took $10.2 million domestically and $11.5 million internationally this weekend for a total of $21.66 million. That takes its domestic total to $294.6 million, with a international cume $291.6 million. There's no need to get your calculator out as that gives the James Gunn helmed movie a worldwide total of $586.2 million, and it should easily breeze past the $300 million mark in North America next weekend and $600 million worldwide. It still hasn't opened in China and Japan. This weekend, Guardians of the Galaxy passed the domestic total of Man of Steel (who would have thought that this bunch of A-Holes would top Superman?), and it's even beaten Iron Man globally. Many thanks to Superhero Hype for the numbers. Here's are a some other key box office updates...
