COMICS: Lettered Preview Of Skottie Young's ROCKET RACCOON #1

Marvel have released a lettered preview of Skottie Young's first issue of Rocket Raccoon. The publisher are hoping this one will be a hit, especially as the character will soon make his big screen debut in Guardians of the Galaxy, played by Bradley Cooper!

As defenders of the cosmos go, Rocket Raccoon has faced his fair share of galactic battles. He’s been a hero to the weak, a champion of good, a protector of the innocent, a heartthrob to the many intergalactic female species and now--a raccoon on the run?! ( I’m sorry, I’m sorry, a “formidable-and-expert-Guardian” on the run. Rocket is NOT a raccoon, okay?) Rocket’s high-flying life of adventure and heroism may soon be a thing of the past when he becomes a wanted man—and the authorities are not the only one on his TAIL! (We’ll definitely be overusing that pun!) Superstar creator Skottie Young brings his A-game as writer and artist on the series we’ve been waiting decades for. Because let’s be real, this is the only Guardian of the Galaxy you actually care about. Am I right?

Fillion tweeted this

@NathanFillion: With so much inaccurate "news" about my involvement in GOTG, I'm actually losing faith in the internet. I'm not Cosmo.

@JamesGunn: @NathanFillion Tell me about it, brother.

I want to be ok with the poppy punkish style of the art... but I'm just not.
I was hoping for something less serious. Well, less childish...
The funny talking Raccoon DOES kill people ya know...

I'll give this a try It looks funny. The art has a funny cartoon look to it which I think fit with the vibe I am getting from this book.

I wish they had gotten H. Jon Benjamin to voice Rocket.

They wasted Bradley Cooper on this role. He could have played an actual A or B-list hero. He has the body for it....damn, does he have a body.....Mmmmmm.

No shit he isn't Cosmo. He is sentry.

He can still play one right? Is he doing the cockney accent?

Do you guys think Gusto would love or hate it if Hal Jordan and Danny Rand flat out [frick]ed each other?
yossarian
yossarian - 6/27/2014, 1:30 PM
I mean weird [frick]ing too. Like Hal lost his ring up there and Danny "iron-fisted" that ass?

@yoss

Ummm...might actually drive up Green Lantern sales...almost as much as it would if they have Hal a brain...

Heck yeah it would drive up GL sales. Readers would be all, "Finally...a GL book with a hero in it! Thank you!"

who would of thought that a talking raccoon would be a household name in 2014.

Please Marvel just don't "Deadpool" this guy and put him everywhere. Soon he'll be the single saving grace of an entire event, partner up with his Zombie head, show up in both his own stories as well as Xforce,Xmen..and then fade away when lazy writers take over. Rocket is like wine, great as an aperitif or with a nice steak but too much and you've got a bad fricken headache, your heads all foggy, memory fuzzy and your butthole hurts. That happens when you guys drink wine right?

Nobody cared about Rocket Raccoon until Keith Giffe put him in the Annihilation Conquest storyline.

The artwork is a bit too weird for my tastes but it fits the tone.

This guy's art is too outputting for me. I mean at least they are not children in this but come on. Its like he drew a caricature of the marvel universe, the based another caricature on said caricature.

I think I confused myself.

There is a rumor that Nathan Fillion may appear in a very small cameo on an upcoming episode of "Castle"...

I know she's an alien, but couldn't Rocket's date be non-humanoid?
It's kinda skeevy wondering what other things she and Rocket could be doing in her room.

Ugh.
