COMICS: Original GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY To Get An Ongoing Series In October

You read it right, folks! Marvel will indeed be publishing a new ongoing series featuring the original Guardians of the Galaxy of the year 3000. What's more, the comic will be written by none other than cosmic Marvel guru, Dan Abnett and will feautre art from Gerardo Sandoval.

The comic will feature the team members of Major Vance Astro, the omnipotent Starhawk, the highly intelligent tinker Martinex, the Jovian powerhouse Charlie 27 and massive-mohawked archer Yondu. 

Marvel Executive Editor; Mike Harts said of the new series, "Guardians 3000 is truly a case of you asked for it, we delivered."

LOVE IT! I actually caught up on my Marvel NOW! Guardians of the Galaxy reading last night, which brought these guys into the story arc. Can't wait to see what happens!

I actually just finished Annihilation and Annihilation: Conquest a while back, and, more recently- the first six issues of the DnA GOTG run. It's great.

I LOVED, COLLECTED, AND ENJOYED THE ORIGINAL GUARDIANS BUT I DON'T KNOW IF THEY WILL TRANSLATE TO THE MODERN WORLD.

THERE'S A REASON NONE OF THEM MADE IT INTO THE MOVIE ACCEPT YONDU AND THEY CHANGE HIM A LOT.

One of THE coolest looking characters of the 70s was Yondu!
Why is he not there?
'Cause I KNOW that blue guy with the bow CAN'T be him . . .
This wouldn't be from the film would it? 'Cause all EVERYONE kept saying was that I should be more open to a different cinematic versions of our favorite characters in the movies. Besides, "you'll always have your comic book version, this non-finned guy is just for the film."
