GOTG VOL. 3 Director James Gunn Shares A New Look At The Villainous High Evolutionary

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn has taken to Twitter to share a new look at Peacemaker actor Chukwudi Iwuji as the villainous High Evolutionary...

Chukwudi Iwuji made a big impression as Clemson Murn in the HBO Max Peacemaker series, and the actor will soon make the jump to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play the villain in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Iwuji will make his MCU debut as the powerful High Evolutionary, a character will ties to Rocket Raccoon's origin. If you're familiar with the comics, you should have a pretty good idea of how he'll factor into the threequel, but there's a chance writer/director James Gunn has made a few changes.

We'll find out this may, but based on what we've seen from the trailers, it's safe to assume that he's not a very nice guy!

Gunn has now shared a new look at the High Evolutionary, which you can check out below.

"In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past." "Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them."

Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova.

Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023.

He just looks so bad. Why does he even keep his skin face if the rest of his body is all mechanical?

@Kurban - perhaps it's some kind of visual metaphor relating to his characterization in the movie?

@noahthegrand - Could they not have done it in a way that makes more sense?

@Kurban - I think that’s a representation of how he started but he’s continually experimented on himself until there’s almost nothing left of who he was. Pretty much the whole “he more machine than man now” Darth Vader thing with a bit of Ex Machina in there design wise

@Kurban - goota have the actor's face in there. Same reason we rarely see characters wear helmets or masks except for action (where it's easier to hide the stunt guy's face)

@Kurban - I thought HE looked stupid in the comics. When I saw the first trailer, I thought, "oh, cool." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

One of the freakish practical effects I've seen. Stretched skin over a metallic face. Done really well. But unsettling

@Vigor -
That's just how he looks, it's not stretched it ends abruptly and the detailing is only visible from the side so in face on shots he looks normal. It does not look unsettling, it looks cheap.

Ok @Scarilian so you don't like it. I like it and find it unsettling. So where do we go from here

The guys face has not been altered, he legitimately looks like that and his facial proportions have not been altered in any sense. We know this because we also saw him at the Comic Con.

Not saying that's an impossibility that it was intended to be a skin face over a metallic face, but it's not 'stretched', it's his normal face with a few wires attached to the back. The only thing you are finding unsettling is the actors normal face.

If his face is on-top of a metal face, it's been applied in a way intended to look as human and normal as possible. The entire concept seems to be an aspect of denial in the hopes that the face will come off to reveal something more akin to his comic design, which may or may not happen.

TLDR: Face is not stretched.
