There have recently been rumblings that Marvel Studios plans to introduce Silver Surfer in his own Marvel Studios Presentation on Disney+ ahead of Fantastic Four's release.
That would be a smart way to lay the groundwork for Norrin Radd and Galactus to take centre stage in the 2025 movie, and Kevin Feige has wanted to do something with both characters for a considerable amount of time now. Way back in the early 2010s, he even offered Fox the chance to retain the rights to Daredevil in exchange for both characters (they refused).
With social media reactions to The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special finding their way online ahead of its release on Disney+ next Friday, one Twitter user weighed in with their thoughts...and a big revelation.
As you can see below, they claimed the Special will introduce the MCU's Silver Surfer, leading to a lot of excitement among comic book fans. However, it took writer and director James Gunn - the new co-CEO of DC Studios - no time at all to debunk that, making it clear the character doesn't show up in the Christmastime adventure.
We're not surprised, of course, though could easily imagine Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 at least teasing Silver Surfer's existence. Marvel Studios also has plans for Nova, though how interested Gunn will have been in laying the groundwork for either character in the final chapter of his trilogy is hard to say.
In The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, the Guardians, who are on a mission to make Christmas unforgettable for Quill, head to Earth in search of the perfect present.
Marvel Studios' second Special Presentation stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and features Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, and The Old 97's, with Michael Rooker and Kevin Bacon.
