GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY HOLIDAY SPECIAL Director James Gunn Shares Full Soundtrack Details Ahead Of Release

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special writer and director James Gunn has revealed the Marvel Studios Special Presentation's full soundtrack, and it has all the makings of a new Christmas classic...

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special arrives on Disney+ this Friday, and it probably won't surprise you to learn it has one heckuva soundtrack.

Writer and director James Gunn has now shared a full tracklist, including an original song, "Here It Is Christmastime" by The Old 97's, and a cover of "Here It Is Christmastime" by them and actor Kevin Bacon. There's a tonne of classic tunes as well, though, including "Fairytale of New York," "Christmastime," and "Is This Christmas?"

The filmmaker also confirmed the Special's score will be released today and confirmed it was composed by John Murphy (The Suicide Squad, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3).

It's obvious Gunn has crafted a suitably seasonal adventure for the Guardians here, so the fact it's jam-packed with great holiday tunes shouldn't come as a surprise. Needless to say, we're sure both this Special and the soundtrack will soon be deemed Christmas classics!

The review embargo for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special lifts soon, so you'll want to check back here for that shortly. In the meantime, you can see some of our social media reactions below!

I can't get over how bad the aliens look in these movies. For someone as creative as Gunn is, they really dropped the ball on alien designs. They're all just humanoids. A little, dare I say, diversity would be nice.

@JstaKIDfrmBKLYN - this has been my issue with all the space stuff. I’m pretty sure they just recycle the alien prosthetics because those look like the same ravengers that were killed in Vol 2

@JstaKIDfrmBKLYN - There's plenty of non-humanoids on earth and we don't interact with them nearly as much as humanoids... so it kinda makes sense we would continue to do that as we reach out into the universe.

Man, already getting emotional thinking about hearing "Just Like Christmas" so soon after the death of Low's Mimi Parker, but it'll be nice for the song to reach a new audience.
