Four months after commencing principal photography on Marvel Studios' newest original movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, writer/director James Gunn has announced he's wrapped the 83-day shoot. Hours after posting on Twitter that the last scenes shot involved stars Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) and Dave Bautista (Drax), Gunn has now taken to his Facebook to formally thank the cast and crew.

"And that is an Official Wrap on Guardians of the Galaxy. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to all of you involved with this film. Everyone down the line has been one hundred percent supportive of me and the Marvel team at every turn, and although I can be harsh or hurried at times, it has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. I feel profoundly fortunate to have been surrounded by the people on this film - because of your talent, your insight, your passion, your liveliness, and your friendship. From the cast to the producers to the costumers to the A.D.s to the stand-ins to the P.A.s to the extras to the stunties and on and on, this movie is what it is because of all of you. Thank you thank you thank you a thousand times, from the bottom of my heart. I love you all." -- James Gunn

“Guardians of the Galaxy,” the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, is directed by James Gunn from his screenplay, with a story by Nicole Perlman and Gunn, and the film will introduce audiences to a whole new side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The all-star cast includes Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Academy Award® winner Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Academy Award nominee John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, and six-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close as Nova Prime. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is slated for August 1, 2014!

omegadagod-gunn has said that he is superstoked about cooper as rocket on his formspring and his twitter,its just he cant say much at this point and lee pace is definitely an unusual choice for ronan but on his formspring someone asked him that and he said that pace came in to audition for star lord and he was really impressed by him and thought he would make a good ronan so he m=told him to audition for ronan and he did and he apparently was great and pace has said that ronan is complicated ,i think he meant that ronan is insane and a monster physically but complicated morally etc.

Note people, just because the last scene he shot was with Dave and Pratt does not mean that will be the last scene in the film.

For all we know, the last scene could've been shot the first day of filming.

Anyways super excited for this movie.

CAN. NOT. WAIT.

@bropous

I don't think should complain on the humor in this movie..... If the humor is like most marvel movies that has been out. But also we talking about a movie with a talking raccoon and tree, so ppl should go in not taking it soo serious.

@omega

I thought there was some very humorous scenes in Nolan's batman, mainly from Morgan Freeman's performance. But it's humor is very different from Marvel's(ex: Loki vs Hulk).

I have utter and complete faith in this director however even though i'm a huge fan of Guardians of the Galaxy i am going to keep my hopes to a minimum.

Hopefully the fans will get a trailer or a teaser soon since filming has been wrapped up.

awesome I can't believe how much people behind the scenes are putting 100% into making cbm. from being to campy to giving fans comic book heroes( taking some liberties) from the comics.
I feel sorry for the video game industry films so far

This movie will exceed all expectations if it lives up to the production tweets and leeks. The cast is simply amazing and Gunn was the perfect person for the job. I see this being huge, akin to something like LOTR with such an impressive cast and grand story.

I will keep my hopes and expectations low, so I will enjoy the film, but damn I am pumped!
