We most likely will see how Peter Quill first met Yondu during a flashback in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. But if not, Marvel has released a new clip for the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series that tells their version of that story. If you look at it, you can connect certain parts of it to the movie, but Marvel already revealed that this show does not connect to the film.

As you can see, the clip below is labeled, "Star-Lord- Part 2." To view part one of this short, click HERE to head over to Itunes!

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy follows the newly-formed team who finds a strange artifact keyed only to the DNA of Peter Quill. Upon opening it, Quill unleashes a treasure map leading to a powerful weapon known as the Cosmic Seed which is capable of giving birth to the next universe. It’s up to the Guardians to find, protect and ultimately destroy the Cosmic Seed in order to keep it out of the hands of those who would abuse its power, from galactic big boss Thanos, to the conniving brothers the Collector and the Grandmaster, to a resurrected Ronan, to the ultimate trickster, Loki, in order to save the universe.

I miss when cartoons where creative and unique as opposed to a movie rip. Phuck Marvel Telly, all there current cartoons suck major ass. I wouldn't even let my little brother watch that shit cause I know it would just dumb him down...... and he's 3.

I'll hold up for now, but the animation style looks good and it seems like it'll keep to in universe of the actual movie instead of imitate it blandly.

This is of course the biggest issue of Avengers Assemble.

@kelvTwelve

Actually it's in the same universe as Avengers Assemble which also is changing their look to resemble the Avengers Age of Ultron mostly Captain America and Black Widow.

I don't mind the fact that the shows take a page from the movies, because eventually they get to do their own thing and use whichever characters Marvel will let them use. So don't be surprised to see Adam Warlock, Quasar, Beta Ray Bill, Cosmo, and others.

Why'd they feel the need to name that dirty, gruesome, pirate-guy "Yondu?"
He has nothing to do with Yondu. Same race and that's it.
Shoulda called him CrasDu, Yondu's blacksheep brother.

Hmm, doesn't look too bad if that animation quality stays consistent. Looks much better than other Marvel cartoons visually. Now they just need to not crap it up with constant, nonstop 4th wall breaking and puns ala Ultimate Spiderman.

Looks nice. I'll watch. Glad they went with the modern Yondu. The classic on looks so ridiculous and 90s. I'd hate to be the animator that would have to draw that guy walking through doors.

yeah, I just wish all representations of heroes had realistic outfits for their profession. I mean look at peter quill, shouldn't he have some sort of protective space travel gear on. Why this ridiculous pretense that they're super heroes? Everyone should have body armor-tech, and camouflage type outer wear.
And helmets. Just like a realistic fighting force like the Marines. NOW THAT would be more realistic.

Bahh!
I spit on this faux realism. It's all design to make grown-ups more comfortable with their superhero fanship.

Oh yeah . . . this is probably the wrong place to launch into a tirade.
It's just a cartoon after all.
