The announcement that A Quiet Place would be getting a sequel was always a questionable one. The first one seemed very self contained, with full story arcs and little to no possible sequel threads, especially with John Krasinski's character. In fact, this was one of the reasons why the film was so well received by both critics and audiences. Thankfully, it seems as though Paramount is very satisfied with what the sequel has in store so far, changing the release date to two months earlier.
The sequel, which will debut next year, has shifted its release date two months, from May 2020 to March 20, 2020, near the April release date the original held.
Next year will see the return of Emily Blunt and the remaining core cast, with Cillian Murphy coming to the fold as a new character.
