Paramount Pictures has released the final trailer for A Quiet Place Part II, and it takes us back to before the events of the first movie to tease how the world became a place where silence is not enough.

This will give director John Krasinski the opportunity to step back in front of the camera, though the focus looks set to be on Emily Blunt (along with Cillian Murphy's mysterious character). The rest of the footage offers up an intriguing glimpse of what's to come in the sequel this summer, and after waiting over a year to watch it, we can't wait to see how the story continues to unfold.

Krasinki - who made a name for himself in The Office - has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood in recent years both as an actor and filmmaker. Many comic book fans remain hopeful that he'll take on the role of Reed Richards in Jon Watts' Fantastic Four reboot, but that obviously remains to be seen.

"Following the deadly events at home," reads the synopsis, "the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path."

A Quiet Place Part II arrives in the U.S. on May 28 and starts playing in the UK on June 3.

Feel like this movie came out two years ago.

I really liked the first one, but I'm not sure it needs a sequel. I'm excited for this, but I really hope it doesn't tarnish the franchise.

Looks dope. Cool that we get to see Krasinski’s character. Don’t think Cilliqn will die, because of what happened in the first movie. But, sorry Djimon, your chances I’m less hopeful for as a result.

I believe the trailer has revealed the fate of one character in the film. Stop the trailer at 1.31. That looks liek Djimon Hounsou's character being dragged away.

Are they going to address the massive plot hole that the aliens can simultaneously hear a pin drop from a mile away but not hear someone's heartbeat or breathing mere feet away? Or that running on sand still produces enough sound for them to hear it?

@Dabs - Or that aliens on our planet aren’t real?

Or are they?

I feel like this is unnecessary. The first film was enough.

Looks like they're trying to do a Godfather II deal where they're flipping back and forth between 2 past and present storylines.

So in the first film, there's a scene where they make some noise and "oh no!" there's a scary noise outside, and maybe it's an alien! But in the the end, hahaha, it's only a possum! Or something silly like that.

But my question is - why is that okay? Why it is okay that the possum can make a load of noise right outside their house (while they can't)? Surely anything making noise in the vicinity is going to be bad for them - especially as we see the possum then get squished.
