ABIGAIL Likes To Play With Her Food In First Red Band Trailer For Radio Silence's "Dracula's Daughter" Movie

We finally know what to expect from Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett's new horror movie, which is titled Abigail and focuses on a child vampire played by Alisha Weir...

Last summer, we learned that Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, aka Radio Silence, were working on a mysterious "monster movie" for Universal Pictures, and the project has now been unveiled via a gruesome, and surprisingly funny, Red Band trailer.

Titled Abigail, the movie stars up-and-coming Irish actress Alisha Weir (who looked a lot different when we last saw her in Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical) as a seemingly innocent child who is kidnapped by a group of mercenaries hoping to land a massive payday.

Abigail bonds with one of her captors (played by Scream VI star Melissa Barrera), but it soon becomes abundantly clear that there's a lot more to this ballerina than meets the eye.

Though we're not sure if this exact premise has carried over, the movie is believed to be at least loosely based on an older script for "Dracula's Daughter," which may explain why little Abby sets about eating her kidnappers!

Check out the trailer and poster below, but be warned that it gives far too much away.

After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl.

From Radio Silence—the directing team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett behind the terrifying modern horror hits Ready or Not, 2022’s Scream and last year’s Scream VI—comes a brash, blood-thirsty new vision of the vampire flick, written by Stephen Shields (The Hole in the Ground, Zombie Bashers) and Guy Busick (Scream franchise, Ready or Not).

Abigail also stars Melissa Barrera (Scream franchise, In the Heights), Dan Stevens (Gaslit, Legion), Kathryn Newton (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Freaky), William Catlett (Black Lightning, True Story), Kevin Durand (Resident Evil: Retribution, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Angus Cloud (Euphoria, North Hollywood) as the kidnappers.

The film is produced by William Sherak (Scream franchise, Ready or Not), Paul Neinstein (Scream franchise; executive producer, The Night Agent) and James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, Scream franchise) for Project X Entertainment, by Tripp Vinson (Ready or Not, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) and by Radio Silence’s Chad Vilella (executive producer Ready or Not and Scream franchise). The executive producers are Ron Lynch and Macdara Kelleher.

Abigail is set to be released in theaters on April 19. Do you plan on seeing this one on the big screen?

Can that guy play any other character, other than Gus Fring?

@HashTagSwagg - why? It gets him paid, well.

This will probably suck, but I'm gonna get wasted and watch it anyway.

I wonder if this is based on the early life of Hillary Clinton?

Melissa Barrera 🥵
[frick]ing insane that spyglass thought it was a good idea to fire her from scream for having… a moral backbone. Hope this is good since I loved Ready or Not but [frick]ing hated their 2 Scream movies. Also if it’s good and a hit it’s more egg on Spyglass’ face, so win/wim

As for the trailer, is it me or is anyone else getting Lucy in Copolla’s Dracula vibes from the protagonist?

@tmp3 - I won't get into the political landscape of what's going on there, but you're right. She shouldn't have been fired for expressing her views on the situation.

@tmp3 - big time Coppola vibes

@GhostDog - Still my all time favourite Drac film by a significant degree. Egger’s Nosferatu got a LOT to live up to between that and the ‘22 Nosferatu, but I have faith in the team

@tmp3 - dude for real. You can thank Gary Barber’s Zionist ass for fumbling the bag HARD. All he had to do was pay Jenna Ortega and Neve Campbell what they’re worth and not fire Melissa. Scream 7 would have EASILY become the highest grossing of the franchise but pride is a mother[frick]er and they really destroyed their own cash cow. It’s equally hilarious and infuriating.

I hope Scream 7 gets stuck in development hell and costs Spyglass hella money. They deserve the worst.

@Origame - 1000% correct. Even if I didn’t agree with Melissa’s stance - I wouldn’t have agreed with her being fired anyways. She didn’t say anything malicious.

@tmp3 - " ‘22 Nosferatu "

I watch that all the time. Silent films are fascinating.

@Origame - Tara Strong was also fired for having views on the situation.

Melissa Barrera for condemning the violence of Israel, Tara Strong for condemning the violence of Hamas.

Neither one should have been fired at all.

May cancel culture rot in hell.

Hey, I'll take it. A fairly new premise that doesn't rely on identity politics? beats half of modern Hollywood right there.

@Origame - yup! This looks awesome to me and I believe its 'funny parts/moments' we be naturally woven throughout the film.

McMurdo
McMurdo - 1/13/2024, 7:27 PM
@AmazingFILMporg - I don't care about her comments I don't think she deserved to be fired at all. This looks BAD. I guarantee you this gets bad reviews and it has nothing to do with her political views. I don't support what's happening in Gaza myself at all but I take issue with anyone who refuses to condemn Oct 7. I believe she did condemn Oct 7 after she lost her job of course

Looks like a good time - I’m in! I hope this ends up being a hit in April with Spyglass still having their dicks in their hand with Scream 7 being stuck in development hell. Stupid ass Gary Barber.
