Up-and-coming actress Bailey Bass, who will play a key role in James Cameron's Avatar sequels, has landed the part of Claudia in AMC's small-screen adaptation of Anne Rice's beloved novel, Interview With The Vampire.
Bass joins Sam Reid as Lestat, and Game of Thrones alum Jacob Anderson as Louis.
In the book, Claudia was a young girl who lost her mother to the plague before being bitten by Louis. Ashamed of his actions, the titular vampire leaves her alive, but Lestat later finishes the job and turns her. She then joins the pair and becomes like a daughter to Louis, but her bloodlust soon begins to rival even Lestat's. The character was previously played by Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man, The Power of the Dog) in Neil Jordan's '90s feature adaptation.
Interview is reportedly being developed as the first entry in AMC's planned "Anne Rice universe," with a Lives of the Mayfair Witches series also in the works. It's not known if the network will also adapt follow-up novels The Vampire Lestat and The Queen of the Damned.
The show was given an eight episode order with an eye toward a 2022 debut. Rolin Jones is on board as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, while Mark Johnson will executive produce along with Anne Rice and Christopher Rice. Alan Taylor will direct the first two episodes.
