BAMBI Horror Parody In The Works From WINNIE THE POOH: BLOOD & HONEY Team

Following Winnie the Pooh and The Grinch, the latest beloved children's character to be given a horror/slasher makeover is Disney's adorable fawn, Bambi. A Reckoning is coming!

For better or worse, this is a thing now!

The trailer for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey was widely circulated online (the movie isn't even out yet), and the attention it received has clearly inspired more low-budget horror parodies of children's classics.

Following the recent news that Atlas Film Distribution is developing a Grinch horror parody titled The Mean One, Dread Central (via FearHQ) is reporting that the team behind Blood and Honey, ITN Studios and Jagged Edge Productions, is also working on Bambi: The Reckoning.

According to the site, the movie will be "an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love. Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix’s The Ritual, Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness. Prepare for Bambi on rabies!”

No specific plot details have been disclosed just yet, but we assume Bambi is going to be seeking revenge for the death of his mother. As for the Ritual comparison, for those of you that haven't seen the film (it's definitely worth checking out), the creature looks like this.

What Is the Monster in 'The Ritual'? | Horror

We have no idea how an adorable young fawn would be reimagined as a giant, multi-limbed demonic monster, but we're certainly curious to find out!

Production on Bambi: The Reckoning is reportedly scheduled to begin early next year. The movie will be helmed by Blood and Honey producer Scott Jeffrey.

This is just a clear attempt to get their crappy slashers more attention. And that was obvious with their blood and honey movie. Like come on. Can these guys not give us a movie with something other than "popular children's character as a horror movie monster"?

I'll give you an idea right now. A rated r tmnt where the turtles are grown and retired, only to get out of retirement to get revenge of the foot clan john wick style.

They can't use the name Bambi can they? Copyright infringement? Disney talking to their lawyers right now, lol.

That Winnie the Pooh trailer was atrocious. Didn’t even seem to do the concept right, making this sound even worse already.

Didn't South Park already do this?

this trend is so f*cking lame, you get to finally use characters that for decades have been under Disney's tight grip, and does everyone think in unison? "lets make it a bloody slasher film".

@Spidey91 - That's what Edgelords do. They have this strange point of view that for things to be considered mature to them they must be bloody, brooding, violent, and full of profanity. Otherwise anything that doesn't have those 4 foundations of Edgelord beliefs will be considered "kiddie".

If they really want to scare people they should re-imagine Bert. Probably the scariest muppet of all time.
