CHILD'S PLAY Reboot Reportedly Enlists LEGION's Aubrey Plaza And ATLANTA Actor Brian Tyree Henry
We recently found out that MGM was planning a reboot of '80s horror Child's Play, and now it looks like the studio has found its leads in the form of Aubrey Plaza and Brian Tyree Henry. More past the jump.
Child's Play creator Don Mancini may not be too happy about it, but MGM is planning to move ahead with its remake of the classic '80s horror flick about a possessed doll named Chucky who terrorizes a young boy and his mother, and we may now know which actors are in line to play the lead roles.
According to Collider, Aubrey Plaza (Legion) and Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) are in negotiations to star in the reboot. Though not confirmed just yet, it's believed that Plaza will play the equivalent of the mother character from the original, while Henry is expected to portray the detective investigating the case.
This re-imagining is said "to follow a group of kids (a la It and Stranger Things), and a technologically-advanced doll that enters their world."
Child's Play has Polaroid director Lars Klevberg on board to helm the project, which will be written by Tyler Burton Smith. David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith (It) will produce.
